My lips feel tight but are not dry?

They were swollen a few days ago with the same tight feeling and slight dryness. Now they aren't dry (I've been putting Vasaline on it) nor swollen, but the tight feeling is still there. I keep putting on Vasaline to soothe the tight feeling, but why are my lips feeling this way even if they feel soft?

This happened to me when I was younger and I found out that it was an allergic reaction to the sap in the rind of the mango fruit.

why were they swollen? perhaps whatever caused that is the same thing giving you the tightness.
