Eggs! you can do a ton of stuff with them and they are cheap!!! Tuna, also cheap. Pasta and potatoes also.

EGG SALAD

5 boiled eggs
1 tbsp. mustard
1 tsp. salad dressing
6 dill pickles
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

In small bowl chop up eggs; add mustard, a little bit of salad dressing, chopped up dill pickles, a little bit of salt, a little bit of pepper, to give it more taste. Mix it all up and put on bread, then ready to serve.

YUMMY TUNA SALAD

2 cans of Chicken of the Sea tuna
1 tablespoon sweet relish
2 tablespoon Kraft Real Mayonnaise
honey mustard, to taste

Drain cans of tuna well.
In a bowl, combine well with mayonnaise, relish, honey mustard.

Chill or serve immediately.

Makes 4 sandwiches.

Omelets/scrambled eggs. Eggs are inexpensive and a good protein.
Rice and beans are good when cooked and seasoned well and make a complete protein. I make rice and beans at least once a week with black beans, red beans, lentils, etc and season according to the bean I'm using. A big bulk bag of rice and dry "store brand" beans and so inexpensive and make many meals. I keep salt, pepper, coriander, cumin, garlic, curry powder, garam masala and hot chile pepper for seasoning.
Sometimes when i don't want to cook I just eat a bowl of cereal or a peanutbutter sandwich on cheap white bread. Not the expensive cereal, just the generic flakes. When I'm low on funds I buy the powdered milk at Walmart and mix a gallon a week. It's less expensive than fresh milk.

Hey, I've been to the store and been able to buy nothing but pork n beans and ramen noodles too and I'm still here. You'll get through it. So is the nature of life.

Rice is very cheap and can be easily changed by adding spices. (chicken bouillon, vegetable stock, curry, etc.) Pasta is always a good call. Cheap. Just simmer some garlic in olive oil and add parmesan cheese. (olive oil and parmesan cheese are pricey but they will last a very long time) Can you buy in bulk at a Sam's or BJs Club? The investment up front is pricey but it pays out at the end. Tuna sandwiches. PB&J sandwiches.

Good luck with your studies! Don't worry... your finances will improve and believe it or not you'll look back on the days of being a poor student fondly!

Soup is healthy and fairly inexpensive if you make it yourself. You can add vegetables, spices, etc and use what you have available. Go to local farmers' markets for fruits and vegetables. Some combinations which are good are tomato and avocado salad, or a tomato salad with chopped garlic and mayonnaise. You can make a quick meal by putting some cheese on bread with chopped garlic and grilling. You can use rice in salads or make pilafs. Eggs are cheap, and you can make french toast. Chopped chicken liver is cheap. Saute onions while you are baking the chicken liver, chop everything up to make a pate.

Here's a start, and you can go from there:

Canned Soups and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches w/ bagged salad

Macaronni and Cheese with deli ham cut up in it, add a couple chopped tomatoes with some bagged cole slaw/dressing

Hamburger Helper, if you don't like beef, you can use ground turkey........and a salad

Spaghetti and pre made meatballs (in the frozen section, just use cheap jarred sauce, heat the meatballs in the sauce on very low heat in a for a couple hours in a saucepan, boil some spaghetti (or your favorite pasta) and serve with some grated Parmesan cheese....

use the leftover meat balls to make meatball subs with deli rolls and some sliced cheese (what ever kind you like)

Scrambled Eggs with grated cheese, sausage and toast (you can eat "breakfast" any time of day, you know!!!)

Tuna Salad Sandwiches or Tuna Salad mixed with bagged salad mix.........

Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwiches and a canned veggie (like green beans)

Frozen mini pizzas (I lived on those in college, you can "doctor" them up any way you like)

Now, back to the Ramen noodles:

you can add a handfull of frozen bagged veggies to them (think peas/carrots mix, or your favorite, mine was corn)

Add some minced ham, beef, (the deli kind avail in the cello packs in the supermarket)

Add some canned chicken to the noodles........

There's a partial list to get ya started, and STAY IN SCHOOL!!!

I find it amazing when someone says they are having hard times financially...ultimately some people have to take a sarcastic tone as though they are better....I too was once a struggling college student...when the funds are gone...they are just gone....Even a part time job can't make that go away....what I did...peanut butter and crackers...lived on it....jarred sauce and pasta...they always have sauces on sale...can make many meals from it.Ho Ho had the right idea...think cheap grains and pastas.....Don't listen to the sarcasm ....the struggle will make you stronger...Good Luck!

At a used bookstore I found a 1988 cookbook titled The Microwave Master, by Donavan Jon Fandre. He makes everything from appetizers and soups through dinners to desserts in a microwave. With a similar book and a little creativity you can prepare yourself feasts. Try searching the web for ideas.

Last week I made a dish with some rice, a can of red beans, and stewed tomatoes.

Take a 14-15 oz. can of beans and drain them. Add it to the 14-15 oz. can of stewed tomatoes, and let that cook on the stove on low/medium heat while the rice is cooking.

Serve with some frozen veggies, and you have a delicious cheap meal.
