I've been invited to a wedding this weekend and they requested us to be in "after 5" attire. can someone fill me in on what this means?

After 5 usually means that you can skip the tie, but keep the suit or a nice dress with sandals or flats instead of pumps.

A suit and tie. A dressy dress for the ladies.

Old school was semi-formal.

Women: cocktail dress (at least to the knees), white shoes (memorial day to labor day).

Men at least dark suit and tie, preferably white dinner jacket
