I recently bought some yoghurts (Activia) but later had to switch off the refridgerator for about 36 hours because the freezer needed defrosting.

So the yoghurts were unchilled for about 36 hours maximum. Husband reckons they will be ok, but i am scared to eat them particularly as I am pregnant.

Should i throw them out?

They'll be ok. Yoghurt doesn't need to be chilled providing it's unopened. Your husband obviously has a brain. Why waste good food. Whether you should eat yoghurt at all while you're pregnant is a separate issue.

36 hours to defrost a freezer. why not invest in a frost free one. or put a hairdryer to it to defrost quicker. Anyway back to your question, if the date is ok then they should be ok. But been as you are pregnant let your husband eat them.

If ever I have any doubt about food I err on the side of caution and dump it. If you have the slightest doubt bin it, better safe than sorry.
