Yes, you can take the deduction on form 3903. But there are a couple of factors that must be satisfied in order to take the deduction. First, the distance from your old residence to your new workplace less the distance from your old residence to your old workplace must be at least 50 miles. So if you lived 5 miles from your old workplace then you would have to move at least 55 miles from you old home to qualify for the deduction.
Now as for what is deductible....the actual costs of moving household goods, and travel expenses for ONE trip by the taxpayer and each member of the household.....they do not have to travel together at the same time. If you have to put some of your items in storage within 30 days after the move you can deduct the storage cost.
As for the trip to find a job....this is not deductible on form 3903, but is deductible under misc. itemized deductions on Schedule A. It would be subject to 2% of AGI floor. Oh, the job has to be in the same line of work you already do in order for it to be deductible also. Hope this helped.

Any expenses to "find a job" are deductible but only as misc. itemized deduction subject to 2% on Schedule A.

Only allowable expenses directly related to the money are deductible on the 3903.
