I suggest that you deep condition your hair every time you shampoo it and to use products with shea butter on the ends of your hair. Frederic Fekkai has some really good products with shea butter in them. Check out his website listed below.

I recommend getting the CHI silk infusion. You can get it at Trade Secret or any place like that. It is kinda pricey, but it lasts forever because you don't have to use very much at a time. I get a tiny bottle and it lasts me for about 2 months, it's about 15 bucks. The big bottle is about $30, but I imagine that would last a year. I have very dry, thick and curly hair and I just put some of the silk stuff in my palms and start at my ends. I start at my ends because this is the dryest part...then I work my way up so my hair doesn't get greasy near the roots. You can put it on when your hair is wet or dry, but I recommend dry so you can tell how much you need. I sometimes put exta on when my hair is wet and wrap my head in saran wrap and let it sit, kind of a conditioning treatment.

Also, make sure you invest in a good straighting iron. I recommend, again, the CHI, because it has ceramic tiles that don't FRY your hair. Also, with a good straightner you won't have to make as many passes to get it straight so you won't run as much risk in breaking your hair.

Don't fall for the knock off brands of the silk therapy, they don't work as well, and they actually dry your hair out more. Biosilk is okay, but the CHI stuff is better. It has more silk protein in it.

Hope that helps.

there are flat iron creams on the market to use on dry hair before ironing it. USE IT.

most young women who come to me for a cut want to know the same thing. the next time they come in , they ask the same question. if they don't purchase it they can't use it. if they don't use it i make more money on the cut because it will have to be cut more often; which means it will become shorter and shorter . then i get to make money on them for extensions (starting at $300).
purchasing and using the correct product in the first place will prevent this.
