I think that we could have the power to make this world a better place. How could we do that? If we were to act selflessly at all times, we would change the world. Do you think that people can love others more that they love themselves? How about treating everyone with love, even people who hurt you? We are so self-centered most of the time that we only concern ourselves with entertainment and comfort, when we should be making sure everyone has food and life's basic necessities. Have you ever heard the saying "a house divided against itself will fall"? If you think of all of humanity as one "house" you can see how we are divided against ourselves, right? How stupid are we to keep seeking only what we want for ourselves, when it is so obvious that we are really just hurting ourselves. We deny ourselves our greatest achievements by ignoring the needs of others and getting "more" for us. What do you think?

Lots of good responses here, but seems that some of you are making assumptions about me. I am not so foolish to think that I originated this thinking. Also, I realize this only works if "enough" people live by it. Then the question is, how many people would be enough? I don't know, but the point is that just because a goal seems unreachable should not be the reason we fail to try. What about so many things in our past that we have reduced or eliminated that once seemed indestructable?

Very good. It's true even though we don't like to admit it to ourselves.

i agree with u.
recently i went thru some tough times, and was stunned to find that my own friends, family, and Boyfriend didn't or couldn't support me the way i needed. and it was doubly painful because i naturally find that so Important to do for them! never have i felt so alone in a long time =T.
and my own sister told me that i am too sensitive, that i care too much, that i needed to learn how to be more Selfish, because the world is like that, and i cannot "change the world."
can u believe this?? why should i take on Worse values such as selfishness, ignorance, greed because "The world is like that, and u don't want to get hurt"???? no matter what, i need to stand my ground, and show those around me that People need to change for the Better, not for the Worse!!!!! even if i get hurt, at least i can try to change those around me! and i sort of did.. i mean, i had to cry and hyperventilate, but still, i got the message to my boyfriend and friends that they Cannot IGNORE someone when they are in need.
sigh....sometimes i feel like giving up, but i know i can't. at least for myself.. i couldn't look anyone in the face if i wasn't proud of what i was.

I think that you hit the nail on the head. And at the same time so many people are going to say nasty things to you because you called them out and now they will be in "defense" mode. However, my thoughts are with yours. I have felt this way since I was a small child. It is not hard to put someone/everyone above and before one's self. Most people are hypocritical, lying and self absorbes so much that they think their behavior is "normal." Just do the best and be the best that you can be. God is watching and He knows what you are doing. God Bless.

i can tell your emotional about this thought!
on a personal note your soo correct!
people do need to start looking at the big picture and stop feeding that insteand gradifaction!
but then your going to get those selfish people who willl say i worked hard for my money i'll spend it the way i want to!
but i guess all of us are guilty to this at some point! i don't forsee anything changing sadly if everyone gave up 2 selfish acts a day wonder what that would do for our world!

Peace sells, but not everyone is buying it. People will take advantage of you because they are trying to better their lives and if they have to walk over someone else to do it then they will. I don't like it, I'm sure most people don't like it but that is the way it is and if you be like them you are probably better off.

I think that you are so naive and idealistic it is nauseating. But your main limitation is intellectual because everything you say and suggest is so unoriginal. Do you really think that these thoughts have not been around forever, almost? And haven't you noticed that still everything remains the same?

Well,
Basically, it's Biblical, so you didn't really come up it first.
It's not just Biblical, it's prophetic. One day that's how it will be under Christ's Reign by the Kingdom of God.
