The book of Isaiah says, "If my people who are called by my name, would humble themselves before me, repent of their sins, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal the land."
It is not that God had not thought of it. Nor is it that wickedness or sin cause illness. It is the HUMILITY in turning to God to ask for his providence that has power in healing the sick. It is not always a matter of healing by recovery either. We are all dying every day. Our time is appointed. Sometimes the resolution of sickness is, for the believer, to fall asleep (die.) However, we know that those who die in faith enjoy the Ressurection that is Christ. They rest in peace.
Other times, healing that continues life takes place and increases faith and gratitude to God.
Prayer then, is acknowledging the soverign and Holy nature of God. It moves the believer, not him. It is communication from the soul to the maker. It acknowledges God. Whatever the answer, his will is perfect.

No, God knows all of our needs. Sometimes he helps us without us asking. But we should pray for help to show that we believe that he can and that we trust him. In the Bible, there are several accounts of Jesus healing someone who asked for it, and afterward he would say "Go, your faith has made you well." By this he means that because they have faith and trust that He can help them, they will be healed.

Of course not. But why not pray? He hears you. When two or more are gathered in prayer, there shall God be also.

Plato felt prayer should be banned, because we should never interrupt the perfect Gods with our imperfect requests.

No, He sees that you have enough faith in Him to ask when you pray for healing and is more likely to answer your prayer.

No, I dont; think he does. He has a purpose for everything so what happens is because he has a plan for it. He already knows what is going to happen.

Yahweh is singularly disinterested in human suffering other than to inflict it.
