I was wanting it to look as if you were standing under a canopy of trees while in the reception area. I'm planning on using lots of white chrismas lights hidden in the greenery.

I really like the wood veener ideas. I have been trying to come up with a creative idea for invitations. I scrapbook a lot so it wouldn't be that difficult to do. I forgot to mention that the wedding and reception site is an octagon shaped room in an old building. the walls are a very dark wood and has carvings on it. So it gives a good background for the theme. The ceiling are two story high and there is a balcony going about 1/3 of the way around on the second floor with a stairway coming down to the first. I think it would be neat to attach tree branches to the balcony and send them hanging over the reception area. And then because the ceiling is white I thought about having blue lights reflecting off of it so that it looks like the night sky when you look up.

The wedding colors are Serene Blue (a darker blue) and Peridot Green. Both have a shimmery feel to them so I was planning on incorporating glitter and hanging butterflies at different heights from the trees above.

It's a wedding NOT a birthday party. How old are you? Six?

I think it depends on where you are actually having your wedding. If it is actually in the woods then you are half way there, if its in a hall you will need a bit more work.

Hang votive candles and lanterns from the trees at varying hieghts

If in a banquet room use tall branches (i say keep them natural wood) and hang the votives from there

use sheet moss on the seating card table rather then linens

use wood veener paper (you can buy it though paper supply stores) to create wood invitations, hire a calligrapher to write them out or just wrap your invitations in the wood paper

http://www.lenderink.com/paperwood/index.htm

You can also use the veener to apply to glass votives so when lit and put on the tables it glows from within

I also say a great image in Bride and Bloom bagazine, curlying willow were intertwined and wraped around very tall candelabras, branches splayed out over head forming a canopy effect and you can then tuck blue and green glass votive holders through out the wood and then hang some above along with the butterflies. I will try and find a pic and send it to you.

use a lot of gauzy fabrics in colors like white, mauve, purple, dark green etc. drape them all over things.
and think:
white roses
delicate butterfly wings
mossy greens and browns
pines
stones and very old things
music like violins, cello, piano

and watch the movie "pan's labyrinth." not only is it amazing, but the scenery is absolutely beautiful and i think it has the feel you're looking for. however, make sure your wedding doesn't turn out like anything in pan's labyrinth- even though it has a lot of "enchanted forest" type images in it, it's a war movie/thriller/horror film. if you watch it you'll get my point.
congratulations!!! i wish i were getting married but i'm only in high school so in a way i don't. ^_^

OH---you can do SOOOO much w/this!
Give your flower girl fairy wings...it would be so cute if you had more than one. And instead of them "walking" down the isle, they could skip randomly like they're "frolicking" little fairies....

Rather than a veil, wear a ringlette of flowers w/long ribbon streamers, if you feel you really must have a veil, do it "elven" style such as just a sheath held in place by the ringlette. You're dress(es) should be in a Renessiance style, they make some GEORGOUS ones now w/beautifully flowing chiffon....very "Maid Marion"/"Guinevierre"-ish.
You should try to find a sheath style dress w/the long chiffon poet sleeves.

If you're not planning on having it outdoors, just make sure you have alot of trees/shrubbery included in your decor. Load them up with twinkle lights..and if you are having it outdoors, use alot of cute "lanterns" hung off of shepards hooks.

Centerpieces could be low fish bowls made up to look like mini-ponds....use large "flatter" bowel w/wide opeining, put some river stone in the bottom,(not too many). I REALLY don't like to use fish-I've some TERRIBLE stories w/them---but if you feel your guests will "respect" the decor as intended, use some gold fish (but maybe get the "koi" type, looks more "forest-y"), pick up some fake lily pads (from the pet store)-the type w/the blooms on them. You can either use floating candles (traditional and seen before) or you could get those table top lanterns--the type like look like a mini planter's/shepards hook w/the lantern hanging from them--and place it so that the lantern hangs over the bowl. Then scatter some glitter around the base of it on the table (fairy/star dust!)

For your colors, you could go w/whimsical colors like sage/orange/pinks/golds/lilacs... depending on what time of year you're having it.

General decorating...LOTS of cascading candles, use candelabras that spiral or cascade downward. If you use pillar candles anywhere, get them in varying heights.
I've also seen where you can actually have a beautiful birdcage filled with doves--don't put it near anything important or guest seating though...bird poop--LOL, but it is very pretty when done.

LOTS of tewell net, organza, chiffon---flowing material.

You can buy champagne/beverage fountains on Ebay pretty cheap right now, and that adds a whimsical affect, they light up and you can decorate around it accordingly.

Pretty votives holders done in pewter w/a forest fairy or woodsy theme would be a great favor, and very reuseable! For the candles that you use for them, get an assortment of them for any/every color used in your wedding. And when placing them on the tables, alternate the color patterns for some variety.

I made an actual life-size wishing well for my sister in laws wedding...she had a forest-y theme to hers as well....and it was perfect! Looked like the real thing, I made it to look like a stone well. I've typed up instructions complete w/illustrations which I've shared w/MANY people here, I'd be glad to forward it to you if you'd like, just email me! I have tons of other ideas as well if I can be of any help......
I LOVE TO PLAN WEDDINGS!!!

cover the aisle with autumn leaves, petals, skeleton leaves etc
go for autumn dress colours
get a lot of plants and trees with no leaves
you can buy like net with little lights in that you can drape over things so you can dim the main lights
drape deep red velvet over the chairs
have a string quartet that play mysterious music - i would recommend Bartok

Use christmas tree lights around leafless trees. You can probably find them at the silk flower store and dim the lights very low since you'll need a lot of lights for the trees. So, it can look like nighttime. you could probably use candles and leaves instead of flower petals. That's all I can think of.

I like the painted branches idea. We did something like this for my junior prom..... all of 7 years ago. LOL

Also potted trees strung with white lights would probably look really nice.

Lots, and Lots of flowers.... but different and somewhat exotic.

how awesome! on the tables you could have floating candles in little fish bowls and have some miniature fairies attatched to the rim of the little fishbowls. sprinkle the table with fake leaves and glitter for fairydust. you could also paint the fishbowls with different enchanted forest ideas. that's the best that i can come up with right now.
