I have a 2 yr old male lhasa-poo who was vomitting this morning (bile) and when cleaning up his diarreah i noticed there was clumbs of gooey blood in it (a significant amount) and grass ,he hasnt had anymore bowel movements since but still gags every now and then he has puked times since 9 this morning and he isnt acting wierd or anything just laying around but if we try to play with him he is responsive. im just wondering is this normal for him to have blood in his stool or is this a serious concern? (vet a.s.a.p?)

You are right to be very concerned. Yes, any blood in the stool is cause for a vet visit, ASAP..Much better than waiting until you have to pay ER prices!

I would take your dog to the vet asap. He was eating the grass because he was not feeling good. It dose not sound like worms, but a possibility that he could have gotten into something that may be tearing up his stomach. I wish you the best of luck and I hope he feels better soon. I am a vet tech student.

TO THE VET to ensure there is no permanent internal damage. Bleeding is NOT normal!

And do describe the symptoms over the phone when you call; otherwise the clerk may just treat it like another routine appointment. This requires urgent care!

If your vet can't or won't see him, call the emergency vet's office. They are open evenings, weekends, and holidays when the regular vets are not.

Vet asap! (like, now)

It's no more normal for a dog to have bloody vomit than it is for us to have it. Haemorrhagic vomit and diarrhoea - it doesn't get much more serious, this dog has some severe intestinal problems! If you can't get a vet appointment today I'd go to an emergency vet.

Yes! Whenever your dog vomits and has not been subject to motion (IE car, bouncing, swings) it is a serious concern and his diarreah with BLOOD makes his condition very serious! If you cannot get to the vets office go to your local animal hospital, quick!!!!

If you havent gotten him his shots theres a good chance its Parvo virus...which is deadly if not treated immediately and its very costly....other than that it could be Giardia, or another bacterial infection...regardless you need to get your dog to the vet as soon as possible for treatment...any blood and vomiting is not a good sign at all!

Yes, take it to the vet immediately no hesitation.

He could have worms or something even worse like a bad sickness. It could be a false alarm, but no hesitation on taking him to the vet NOW!

Hope he's feeling better soon! =(

Hi, I recently had the same issue with a pup I bought. She ended up having an intestinal parasite. I took her to the vet and they were able to diagnose the problem and give me liquid medication to give to her. It was really scary, so I understand your concern, but she's fine now. By the way..the meds were really easy to administer because it apparently tasted good. I suggest that you make an appointment to get him check out.

my vet suggest no food or water for 24 hrs. If your dog gets any worse see your vet. My dog has a nervous stomach and gets this maybe twice a year. Try some quiet petting and no play till later. good luck!

Go to the Vet NOW!!! How would you feel if this was happening to you??? Terrible, right??? Well, it could be poisoning, a rupture in an internal organ, ANYTHING LIFE THREATENING. Do not hesitate. Go NOW!!!
