'abandon all reasonable and rational thought?' As if you do this, you can actually believe in ANYTHING as these are the attributes within a normal healthy human mind that prevent us from believing things without question?

This challenge is usually made in opposition to logic and reasoning, so I think you are right; it would have to mean abandon reason and logic.

Since that is the case then it wouldn't really be a belief but a wish. There is a plausible path to belief that may be considered in some senses rational. To give up rationality would be to negate that path and that would leave nothing but a wish or desire.

No, Not at All Mr. Thinker. Why would U, such a Learned Man of Science, make such an Un-Realistic, Un-Rational, Un-Scientific Statement as this??? Have U "Scanned" the Minds of All Christians and made this Scientific Judgment of Us, is that Ur Job Here, is that what Ur Saying??? In Ur "Scan" U have "Proof", I Presume, that is Un-Refutable saying "All Christians" have "Un-Healthy Minds", is that what Ur going to Offer us Next??? Well, I for one should very much like to see Ur "Scientific Endeavors" Posted Right Here Please??? John

Oh, but they got reasonable and rational thoughts and no, I don't think they want to believe without questioning. I think they actually want you to listen what they have to say and if you find a so called Christian asking you to believe without questioning, show him how fast you run.

Not at all. To 'abandon all reasonable and rational thought' is intellectual suicide.

Contrary to what you may believe, Christians do not believe things "without question."

Faith and blind willful ignorance are two very different things.

I study the evolution and I studied The Bible and the bible is a lot more believable than that we came from monkeys. So this must mean that I do not have rational thought.

I guess reasonable and rational thought is that something blew up and BANG..the universe just happened by chance.
I could not believe that with any kind of thinking.

Odd that you posit a protest against stereotype by incurring a stereotype.

No, open-minded means: "Let me explain my logic to you, or my reason for belief, and you hear it for what it is."

If you want rational thought, read the Epistle to the Romans, chapters 1 through 14.

Unfortunately, not all Christians think the same way. Therefore its hard to answer this question, because it would depend on the person, or group of people you are refering to.

In general though, I agree. Christianity is based on faith in God...not on thought. My mind is capable of making mistakes, but my faith is not because the Bibles says if I believe in Him through faith He (God) will...guard my mind and faith in Christ Jesus. The more I put my faith in God...my thoughts become His thoughts, and my thoughts are never in question because I know they are based in Faith, that has been proved in the Bible and through non-Bible to be historically, and accurately true and reliable. Hope that helps! :)

Well, when you say the bible is a book of fairy tales there is no other choice but to say you're being close minded. No one can open-mindedly call the bible a book of fairy tales, even if they don't believe it.
