Bran Muffins evolved from a population of Corn Muffins that migrated to the West Coast. Health conscious humans there paid no attention to the Corn Muffins, and they were in danger of going extinct. Because they could better compete in the West Coast breakfast environment, members of the Corn Muffin population with the Bran genetic mutation came to dominate the population, thus giving rise over time to a new species - Bran Muffins. However, in the South and Midwest, the origin of the Corn Muffin migration, the breakfast environment is still favorable for Corn Muffins, and the Bran mutation gives the local Muffins no significant advantage. This is why there are both Bran Muffins and Corn Muffins in existence. They are both uniquely suited to the environments in which they live.

Because the Bran Muffins evolved from a small population of the Corn Muffins. Therefore all of the Corn Muffins didn't need to adapt to environmental changes, only the population of Corn Muffins that was in the area in which the environmental change occurred.

One of the basic forms of evolution.

Because bran muffins are made from bran flour and corn muffins are made from corn meal. That's sort of like saying "if raisens evolved from grapes, then why are there still grapes?"
