I have several thoughts on this question...

The Bible says "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" That implies that all sin is worthy of death unless you accept Jesus into your heart and life.

The bible also says "The love of money is the root of all evil" That doesn't mean that having lots of money is wrong, but when money controls your life, according to the Bible it becomes the root of "all" evil which could become the worst sin.

Lastly, the Bible also tells in Genesis about Adam and Eve committing the sin of eating the fruit they shouldn't have, and then lying to God about it. This event resulted in the first sin of all mankind, so perhaps in terms of history...that was the worst sin.

After reading the Bible cover to cover 3 times, my conclusion is that sin is sin...is sin. There is no such thing as a good, better, and best sin to God. God however through Jesus offers forgiveness for all of our sins past, present, and future if we put our hope and faith in the eternal life He freely offers. Hope that helps! :)

If you ask me, the worst sin anyone one can commit is any sins at all.
As I learned...all ground is level at the cross.
all sin was supposed to be worth death, so any of the ten comandments is just as bad as any of the others.
but now, after the death, and reserection of Jesus, anyone can be pardoned for breaking one of the ten commandments, one can be forgiven for dening the Holy Spirit, In that God will continue to call you in hopes that you will turn around, (come on people, if you are going to quote scripture, get it right!) It is committing Blasphamy against the Holy Spirit, which is speaking out against the Holy Spirit with words...this is a sin that will never be forgiven not even since the death and reserection of Jesus, for he so has said it himself.
this is christianinty, but my opinion if I had the chance to chose the sin that is the worst of the worst of the worst.
It would be... abusing and killing an innocient child.

If the Commandments are listed in order of importance, which I believe they are to some extent, then "Thou shall have no other gods before me" would be the worst.

That's the first commandment, right?

ps. But sins aren't measured, so why do you ask? It's only our 'humanness' that measures our sin (eg: killing is worse than lying.)
.

EDIT: Amazingly Intelligent - WHERE does it state that suicide is unforgiveable??? That doesn't make ANY sense at all. It's like saying "You better make sure that the LAST thing you do before you die isn't a SIN, otherwise you'll go to hell!" Please enlighten me with your "wisdom"!!!!

All sins are a stench in God's nostrils. None are greater or lessor in his eyes. Lying and murder are the same. There are only two which will not (or cannot) be forgiven. 1. Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. This Jesus said he would not forgive.
2. Suicide
The second one is not forgivable because we cannot ask for forgiveness for it. Except for the first sin, we can confess our sins to Christ and he is faithful and just to forgive us. In the case of suicide, you cannot ask forgiveness once you are dead. That sin remains unforgiven. You cannot ask first and then do it. Forgiveness requires repentance. A sincere desire not to repeat an act. The turning away from sin. You cannot turn away from killing yourself and then do it.

Driving along in the passing lane without actually having the need to pass someone, and going the same speed as the people to your right... thereby creating the traffic jams the rest of us are forced to endure every day.

In Christianity, it is to deny the Holy Spirit.
In Islam it is to associate Allah with another God (polytheism).
Thats all I know

I dont know about Judaism, but I know Hindu's don't have a common consensus on any varying degrees of sin

In my opinion, the worst thing a human can do is hurt a child in any way shape or form.

In Christianity, Jesus says blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the only sin that cannot be forgiven.
