I've seen places that actually collect batteries so that they are properly disposed of.

I find the trash can a most viable and inexpensive, environment friendly disposal method.

Walgreens or hardware stores. if u r currently using disposable batteries then i would suggest u switching to rechargable ones because they are more environmentally friendly and they save u money too from constantly buying new expensive disposable ones.

Not sure where you live but round here batteries can be taken to any municipal waste site and deposited in battery bins for recycling. Maybe check with your local authorities and see what schemes they have in place.

there is supposed to be a special day that the garbageman comes and get bad batteries.

if you toss them on the side of the highway, eventually the convicts will come to collect them and make sure they get to the right place.
