It isn't about hydration really.
The thing about massage (if done well) is that it flushes the body of toxins and lymph by increasing circulation. The toxins and other substances need to be removed, hence drinking plenty of water. That way you are able to remove it from your system and it doesn't grow stagnant.
People find that if they don't clear their systems after a massage that they feel as though they have the flu.
Any good Massage Therapist will advise you to drink about twice the water you usually would.

Any good massage therapist will tell you to drink a bottle of water after the massage. It's due to the stimulation of tissue from what I understand. My massage therapist ALWAYS gives me a bottle of water after she is done. You may also notice headaches and it's due to the increase blood flow.

i have never heard of this, it could be from increase circulation of it might not even be connected with getting a massage at all
