Tylenol CANNOT be given to your dog. You can use aspirin (at meal time to reduce stomach irritation). Your shepard is probably around 80 - 90 pounds?? So 1 to 1/4 tablets would be the dose (asprin tablets are 325 mg - the dose is 5 mg per pound). If you are asking because your shepard has pain from a chronic problem then aspirin is not the answer as it should be used sparingly - no more than 2 doses a day for a short period - anything beyond that you should consult your vet. I give mine Metacam for his hip pain. It's a NSAID (like advil) for animals and works quite well. Metacam is available by prescription through your vet. Hope he/she feels better!

NEVER give an animal Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Acetominiphin can destroy an animal's liver.
One baby aspirin will do the trick, but talk to your vet first. Aspirin also can act as a sedative for dogs, so expect him to become a bit sleepy.

I give my lab baby tylenol. Always use children's dosages when dealing with human medicines. Administer according to weight. Be sure to ask your vet if dogs are allergic to any human over the counter medicines first. Dogs are allergic to many things humans aren't; for example onions.

Whoa! Dogs metabolism is different from humans. Check with a vet.
One suggestion: glucosamin chondroitin was first used to treat dogs before it became used for humans.
