In a magazine i was reading, someone asked a question saying they could'nt always manage to eat there 5 a day fruit and veg. The answer was a vitamin that supplied you with all the benefits of eating your '5 a day'. Does anyone know the name of this vitamin?

Thanks

Hi
I'd love to tell you of a magic vitamin that can substitute "5 a day" - but there really isn't one! It could be argued that the amounts of certain vitamins vary in "need" - but the bottom line is that vitamins synergize and antagonise with other vitamins and minerals, and some of actions still only have loose theories on how they effect our body. Indeed there are substances in the "5 a day" quota that are still being discovered - so absolutely nothing can replace these. Supplementation however is a option as well as fruit and veg. If you want to look deeper then try Patrick Holfords "Optimum nutrition bible".
The only other thing i can think of is that they named a multi vitamin and mineral? In which case you need to ensure you get a good one. I recommend solgar.
Sorry to disappoint you

There is no such vitamin. Fruit supplies much more than any pill and it has been shown that the antioxidant effects of the vitamins in fruit are NOT shared by the artificial capsules anyway. It seems there is as yet no substitute for the real thing. You also of course would miss out on both fibre and trace elements.

There is no single vitamin that can replace your 5 a day portions of fruit. It is likely to be a multivitamin tablet but you would still be better off with the 5 a day fruit portions as you would also get fluid and fibre that way.

No, but you would not beleive what I found. A custom nutritional supplement taylored made for my body. I took a in home test sent it off to the lab and got my results back. It told me exactly what my body wasn't getting and what I was getting too much of. It's boosted my energy and I've noticed when I work out now I'm not sore the next day nearly as bad as before I started taking them. My wife is on them too and she is amazed also. I like the science behind it as well. I got my resources from this web site. www.idealhealth.com let me know what you think. One of my friends turned me on to this and I thank him everyday.
