I am usually rather frugal. If you are just starting out, you may not enjoy the game as much as you think. In my humble opinion, you could start out with used clubs. You can always spend big bucks to get expensive custom fit clubs. The technology of golf clubs continues to cause them to be obsolete to the avid golfer but their old club are more than adequate for some one just taking up the game!

I would suggest spending less on clubs and a little on lessons to learn you swing and enjoy the game before you spend the ranch on top of the line, latest technology set of clubs.

In any event, have fun!

Marsha,
If you are just stariting out.
First keep it fun.
Second go to a golf galaxcy if U have one by you.
They have great guys there that can see what size
clubs you need. U buy off the rack most of the time.
The big plus is they have a place where U can hit and
they will tell u What flex u will need. That is the most
important. They usualy have used. Good clubs great
price. If not. after u find out what suites u best. try Golf Discount if u have one near by. They have used clubs.
I hope this helps?
Ben

Golf won't get you a lot of excersize. I would get custom-fitted clubs. It depends on what type you buy. But maybe 700 dollars.
