I agree 100%. Most people ask questions on here to *make* the statement. Many ask ludicrous misleading questions that support an outright lie in an attempt to sway the readers opinion to their political belief.

It is quite amazing to me how 'hate' has become the primary political motivator in the last 15 yrs. Clinton was hated and now that side has pushed the Bush hatred. It is powerful but regardless of your politics, you should be able to admit your opponent has good points and that your candidate has negatives.

Example(in support of your question): In the military section, a common question is "Why don't we listen to the troops?" but when the veterans of the conflict disagree with the asker's assertation that we pull out, they are called "brainwashed" and warmongers by the asker.

Well I think a lot of people here on yahoo answers are asking because they want to get a rise out of other folks.

Personally, if I ask a political question I'm actually interested in hearing varied points of view. If I already know how I feel about something I still like to know WHY people who disagree think the way they do.

What I'm not interested in is people who just say things like "because it's WRONG" over and over without saying WHY they think something is wrong.

So anyway, long story short, I personally want discussion but I think I'm an abberation.

It looks to me that about 90 percent of the people who ask political questions just want to stirr things up and aren't interested in a sane, rational, and reasonable debate.

A large portion of the questions I see on this forum involve inflamatory comments, unsupported allegations, and just plain nonsense. Most of the time they make the side they claim to represent look foolish. Both libs and cons are guilty of this.

Some people go through a lot of trouble to fill this space with idiocy. It is evident they don't want a responsible debate. I suspect they are getting paid to do so. Nobody would go through that kind of trouble and spend that much time on the project for free. Who do I see to apply for the job? I could use a few extra bucks.

It seems like a lot of people ask questions just have to have that reassuring answer that *coincidentally* reaffirms their own opinion. I think I'm guilty of it as well...I mean who really wants to hear that they're "wrong"? That said, there are also really good questions and really good answers that bring up different points of views and unique perspectives. However, most are most often looking for reassurance.

It depends on the person. I personally prefer a good debate. I don't ask questions based on politics because most people don't want to debate; they want to argue. They want the other side to consider THEIR position, but they are not generally willing to consider the other guy's.

You're probably looking at a majority that want people to agree with them. Hey, that's OK, they are easy to pick out and really do not say much that's worth reading anyway.

Political questions often elicit opinions from other users whether to agree or not to his views or party affiliation.

I think that on this forum, people want a bunch of "ditto-heads"-- people who agree with them.

Me, I'm always on the lookout for the best argument...I love debate!

They knock.
They want answers to solve the misery of living human kind.
And Yahoo answers is the biggest data bank around.
And they are knocking at the right door too.
