If Christians are so ignorant, and so afraid of education and all of the other christian bashing slurs that I see on here, why do people keep asking them questions.

Some of you clearly view Christians as idiots, so why are you seeking the counsel of an idiot, when you could quite easily educate yourself by opening the bible? Or is it maybe that these Christian bashers are the ones afraid of education. Afraid to read a book that has been around much, much longer than any of your theories?

This is a question that Jesus answered for us. He said, "...and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world anymore than I am of the world."

We should not be surprised that we are bashed. We will be attacked because we are not of this world. We live different and think different. Remember, they killed our leader and they don't care for his followers either!

I have noticed that there are a lot of Christian bashers but there are also a lot of Christians bashing Wiccans, Pagans, Gay people, etc. I think the bashing is coming from everyone about everyone. I have also noticed that in some of my questions I do not specify which religion or spiritual path I am talking about because I tend to use generalities but somehow the Christians that respond take it as a personal attack on them and their faith which is never the point of my questions. So, I think some people are super overly sensitive and others are just jerks. No one should judge anyone else regardless of their beliefs because that goes against pretty much every religion I have ever come across. So, in a way, we're all a little bigoted.

Hey there.. I'm sorry you're so upset. I know that the bashing can really get to someone.
I've actually read the bible cover to cover over 50 times. I don't address questions to ignorant people. However, there are plenty of those in your faith that ARE ignorant of the facts as well as the bible. Many of us have read it several times.. we can't say the same for them. It's kind of difficult to understand how they can bash us with their bibles when they haven't even read them.
I hope you see the point of what I'm saying. This is in no way directed at you personally.

A lot of Christians are ignorant, and a lot are judgmental, but I cringe whenever people I otherwise respect refer to all of us that way. But you have to realize that Christians do this too, making assumptions about atheists, pagans, etc.

They're also not seeking the counsel of Christians, but trying to make them see the irrationality in the arguments that a lot of Christians make.

Because it is easier to point a finger than it is to admit that they might be wrong. Once people have "defeated" a Christian's viewpoint--they feel vindicated and powerful, like they just one a huge battle. Pride is such a ill-fated circumstance to fall into.

It is easier to attack a person than to actually study for themselves to discover what truth actually is.

The road less traveled.

whooo boy. most atheists on here are ex-christians and know the bible well. I'm not one of them as I never was a christian but I have read the bible. There is history before that bronze-age book you know. Lots of stuff happened. Many different gods came and eventually moved to oblivion or mythology classes. Like your god will.

I don't - in fact, I haven't put a question up yet.

However, believers in general are viewed as ignorant because, frankly, most are. Few know even the most basic assumptions of their own religion, or what their own bible says about many topics.

I've read the book, cover-to-cover, twice. The first time made me an atheist; the second time confirmed it. Can you say you've even read it fully? (Including ALL of the "begats"?)

The most ignorant people are the ones who make broad generalizations about any group of people. Any question like "Why do Christians always.." or "Why do black people think..." is the most surefire way to make yourself look ignorant and uneducated.

i see this too and its a shame to speak of anyone who is a believer like that. lumping all christians into one by saying all are idiots or all or ignorant or all are 'whatever' is bigoted and biased.

i view those who make personal attacks against others for their religious beliefs as religion nazi's, they want to control what you believe and how you believe it. there are also those atheists who come on here to berate and attack christians specifically making fun especially of the evangelicals and all the while are espousing their belief of non-belief ! i call them evangelical atheists. personally i pretty much think you believe what you want and let others believe what they want but no one has the right to attack others for their beliefs. unfortunately there are some who want so much to disprove god that they take to lying, disrespecting and personal attacks. my opinion is if they don't believe fine but don't persecute others.
