I want to know why people who are tattooed get judge in such a negative light. I have heard a lot of people tell me how stupid those people are, or how trashy they must be because of their tattoos. I think that it is just so ignorant, to judge someone because they have a tattoo (or for any reason, race, religion ect. but thats another topic). Why should they have to cover up their tattoos? I don’t see anything wrong with people showing who they are. I love tattoos and people with them! :)

Kathryn you said "I mean one is okay but covering yourself with tattoos just makes you look well...stupid."
How does it make them look stupid? To me, you judging someone and jump to a conclusion like that like that makes you not a very tolerant or educated person; can you explain why you would view that person as stupid? What about the tattoos made that person stupid? What if they had a PHD in Microbiology, are they still stupid beacuse of some tattoos?

anyone who judges another does so because putting someone else down makes them feel better about them self. a person with a tattoo is no different then a person without one. if I was walking down the street with jeans and a t-shirt on you would never know I have a tattoo..but actually I have 5. and I am happily married and in school for a program that gets over 2000 applicants a year and only takes 48 students. and its all based on grades. I consider myself to be a very intelligent person and my tattoos have nothing to do with it. I think what makes people look stupid is judging someone they don't even know. having a tattoo doesn't make you look low class either. I have neat, clean clothing, well styled hair, and always look presentable when I'm out. people can feel free to judge me if they want, but I know its really them with the self-esteem issue.
and I agree its funny that people think professionals dont have tattoos. well I have news for them. when I finish school in less then 1 year I'll be the professional cleaning and caring for their teeth and not one person will know I have tattoos as all are covered. its suprosing what you can hind under your clothing. ignorant, narrow-minded individuals.

I have two, but they aren't readily visible so most people don't know I have them unless I show them or tell them. I'm sure people have judged me, but so be it. They would be wrong most likely. For you though, is it a gang tattoo because that sounds like what you are saying without saying it. That could be where the judging comes in and the fear. You might want to get it covered or removed if that's the case.

I have to laugh at "you'll never see an accountant with a tattoo".
Oh Mika, dear woman... are you around anywhere? Someone needs you to smack them with a clue by four. It's off tax-season, so I'm hoping you have the time.
I also found out accidentally that my accountant has a tattoo - a little anklet, rather dainty & not easily visible. I only saw it because I dropped my folder of tax deductible donation receipts last tax season. She wasn't hiding it, she just wasn't advertising it.
Personally I think it's wrong to assume they'll never be accepted. It may be an asymptotic relationship as with other social changes - there are still people who think "a woman's place is in the home", for example. However, how many people bat an eyelash at a guy with long hair nowadays? Women in CEO positions? Non-caucasian congress critters? Okay, some do, but they'll be dead in ten years...
I don't believe in catering to the lowest common denominator. That way lies the slippery slope and regressive social change.

Thank you for being one of those tolerant people. People are becoming more tolerant and accepting of tattoos nowadays because a lot more people have them. But then some for some reason find them offensive. My last boss thought my back tattoo was and I had to keep it covered when I was at work. It made me paranoid about showing it. Now I'm at a job where nobody really cares. So you never know.

I agree with you, and tattoos are just something that will never be completely accepted. People don't agree with them for many reasons- what their culture says, what their religion tells them, etc.
People get tattoos knowing this. I've heard people whisper about me, say mean things, whatever. If people still want to judge people by appearances, screw them.
My boyfriend and I are both educated. I am in Education as a career. My best friend is one of the smartest people in the world, but will forever be judged because of his appearance, and because he is a tattoo artist.
Bottom line- people will always judge people on the way they look. It's sad, but it will always be around.

Such kind of people are limited to their thinking. They do not have something good than criticize other.
In Japan if someone have tattoo is thought to be a Yakuza, however, in olden times criminals were tattooed to recognize them among people. At present new generation they love tattoo and think it as a fashion.

People who judge others for their artwork are close-minded.
I am a tattooed female who has 7 pieces on various body parts. I have two on my lower leg/calf area and they constantly come under fire, especially when I am on job interviews and other professional settings. Like, for some reason, having ink makes me a different kind of person or professional employee. *YUCK!*
Tattoos are a form of art & personal expression! They are not stupid or trashy! They are visual representations of personal relevance for the bearer.
A person chooses artwork, and wears it proudly.
How often are ladies judged for having earrings on, or lipstick on their lips, or their hair in a ponytail?? It is the EXACT same thing only viewerd differently ... Personal embellishment is for the person - and again I say ...
People who judge those who have tattoos are close-minded!

each to their own, I don't like home done tattoos where people have obviously tried to do them themselves, spelt things wrong or just made a complete mess.
don't get me wrong, I have 3 tattoos of my own, professionally done, but I am not allowed to show them at work. I got called to see the office manager who told me to cover up last summer, at the time i covered up, but having been there quite a bit longer now, if we have another hot summer I will not cover them up, Im not ashamed of them, everybody has them these days, they are not shocking. I plan on having another one, as soon as I get the guts to get in the chair again lol.

Thank you!
I agree with you completely. I have a tattoo with my daughter's name in it and I am extremely proud of it. But, when some people hear that I have a tattoo (without even knowing what it is) they jump to conclusions and automatically think I'm a biker girl or something! (which it shouldn't matter if I was anyway)

It's funny how people think that accountants, or doctors or professionals don't have tattoos......they are so in denial. I guess they would be shocked if they knew what some people had hidden under those clothes.
My husband worked for a company for 16 years and now is in business for himself as a high tech consultant. He has tattoos. I have my own bookkeeping business. I have tattoos. Together we own our family business - exotic luxury rental cars. We own all the cars......we aren't losers, lazy, drug addicts, etc. And the people who rent those cars from us.....most so far have all had tattooos :)
Go figure........?!
