FLUSH OR NOT FLUSH????????????

IT IS TRUE THAT FORD TRANSMISSIONS HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS AND IF YOU FLUSH IT OUT YOU MAY HAVE NO TRANSMISSION WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED.

DRAIN AND REFILL WOULD BE BETTER FOR YOUR APPLICATION AND USE ONLY MOTOR-CRAFT TRANSMISSION FLUID.

TO ANSWER YOUR ORIGINAL QUESTION, YOU WILL FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION OUT UNTIL YOU SEE CLEAN AND CLEAR FLUID COMING OUT.

Prestone makes a kit that you can use to flush the coolant system. You cut one of the heater hoses and install a 'T' fitting and hook a hose to it and flush it. The transmission fluid is best done by a shop with power flushing equipment. It would be a good time to get the fluid changed. Doing it this way will get the fluid in the torque converter also, quite a bit of fluid is stored there and the power flusher will get it all. Costs usually run around a 100.

I do not recommend a flush on this transmission. Just change the fluid every 60,000. This vehicle is known for having seals blow out when transmission is flushed. As far as the collant Ford recommends every two years.
