I am a fairly new member, but my first and subsequent experiences with Direct Buy have been horrible. I ordered a sofa recently. The sofa arrived on time, but was it the wrong material and the back of the sofa was crushed 6" all the way along the back. No one at Direct Buy inspected the sofa prior to me driving 30 minutes to their warehouse to pick up the sofa.
I ordered another piece of furniture that took nearly 9 months to arrive when everything was said and done.
Personally, I feel that if you have a lot of time to hold their hands and send things back that are incorrect, it may be worth it. But overall, I have felt that once they have your initial and quite substantial membership fee, they could care less.
I hope this helps with your decision.

I clicked on the links left by the first people who answered and was shocked to see the number of complaints about Direct Buy and now I am petrified! We joined a few weeks ago. The one thing I have to admit is it is a lot of work because they only have catalogs in the show room and I want to see and touch what I am going to buy. So we had to find were products were displayed to look around. However I had done a lot of comparison shopping ahead of time for our remodeling projects and some fancy class tile I was going to buy at an "outlet" store was $30 a square foot. Direct Buy price was $8. Bathroom tile I got for $1.50 that was going to be about $5. I already recieved our first tile order deliver to our home for $35 with no problems. I am however concerned about using their contractors we looked into granite counter tops and being that they only have one granite yard the prices for the slabs were reasonable but I got the feeling their suggested contractors were trying to recoup the money they weren't making by selling us the granite in the installation by rolling the cost into the installation. Also we found we could order windows for about 40% savings with tax, shipping and handling, but were concerned about measuring things ourselves for the bigger bay window as if we measured wrong you can't return it so we are thinking about using the contractor to do that and let them make mistakes. I wasn't sor worried about the standard windows. We are doing a big remodel and are being careful about what we buy through them. I am actually excited about the furniture discounts, but be prepared to put in the time and do alot of research of manufacturers you are interested in. I think we will more than recoup our cost of membership in the first few months because of our projects, but probably not realizing the savings we thought given some of the contractor issues. Also to add to what I read on the websites it was a time share type presentation that was relatively high pressure, but they did let us look at any and all the catalogs that we wanted to and since I had done a lot of price shopping prior I feel I was able to make an educated decision about actual savings. But I am definitly going to be careful after reading the other postings.

to start you must make a $6000.00 deposit. from there you are a member for life. if you decide that you want to help a friend or neibhor it would be very hard since they only deliver to your address and if its something huge..... the customer service is great and there deliverys are as they say. My neibhor was a member and when I was re doing my house I used there service. i am happy with my purchase, but i don't recommend it unless you really plan on using it alot.

I looked at them closely when I was starting to build and concluded that they offered nothing special.
