yeah it just depends, if I am making rice I might add some spinach or if its a Hamburger Helper, a salad, but for the most part I don't add anything to the meal, usually what is in the box is what I eat with maybe a few adjustments for taste.

With the Zatarain dishes I make a green salad to go with them. Depending on the Hamburger helper I make different things. With the Lasagna one I make corn and garlic bread. With the stroganoff one I make a can of peas (I also add a bit of sour cream to the dish, makes it more tangy). With the chicken helper alfredo I make a Caesar salad and bread. I always make sure to have veggies with the boxed dinner since I have kids, and I make the breads because my 2 year old LOVES to "dip" bread into things and if it gets her eating more.....

No. That's all you have to do for the recipe to work. Follow the directions. You can add your own meatballs to the beef for a change or breast of chicken for the chicken recipes. What I do a lot is either have some fresh vegetables on the side or a tossed salad. Diner complete

when I cook hamburger helper (beef stroganoff, or salsberry steak) I use cubed steak instead of ground meat. It makes it taste more homemade. I serve it with greenbeans, sweetpeas, corn, or sweet potatoes and sometimes even a baked potatoe. You can always serve a salad with boxed meals.

Something light always compliments these "box" dinners well. Salads, grilled veggies, etc. Keep it very green and fresh! Stay away from heavy potatoes and other starchy sides. The box dinners themselves are usually full of pastas and rices that could sit heavy on you stomach.

Zataran's tend to have a bit of spice so I add fresh greens on the side.
My husband likes cheeseburger macaroni, so I add fresh broccoli florets so the kids get some veggies as well
Goya makes good spanish rice, I add frozen corn and precooked chicken to make it a "one pot" meal

Yea if I'm feeling a hamburger-helper night, I usually go with canned corn or frozen peas. Something with little to no salt to even it out.

When my husband requests these. I always make a salad and another vegetable along with fresh biscuits.
I honestly dont like making them because its not as fun for me, but i also try to make my husband happy, so we usually have something like this once a month.
