the baby boomer group gets older and have babies that also support social security eventually? So that employers can continue to discriminate against older americans who want to work, but are not hired due to age discrimination or health discrimination (so that the employers' group health insurance premiums will not go up?).... I always thought that as the baby boomers got older, discrimination in the workforce would have to stop so that social security could stay afloat, but now it looks like the "system" has found a way around that...so that discrimination against older and workers with major health problems can continue? Thoughts?
workers can continue...

flextime...I am not talking about them getting social security , but rather paying into social security as workers and thereby keeping the system from failing, but also allowing older americans to be denied work thru age discrimination..as younger workers are hired instead..

Actually, the power behind the politicians want immigrants (especially illegal ones) to help collapse Social Security so they can pocket the proceeds. Don't believe me I'm sure, but look at the amnesty bill and just how much they're giving the illegals as part of their felony forgiveness act. Among other things five years worth of unpaid taxes get totally ignored! In addition these same jerks have decided that illegal (and legal) aliens are allowed to collect full Social Security benefits!! Yes, we are ALREADY sending hundreds of millions of Social Security dollars overseas.

Remember the S&L bailout? Where billions of tax dollars went to keep the fat cats off the hook for all the money that mysteriously vanished? The Social Security bailout will be much the same except this time they've got the Enron model to also go on. Money does NOT vanish! It gets transferred from one set of pockets to another. Our "elected" officials have been transferring OUR money out of Social Security for decades now, the miniscule contributions of low-paid immigrant workers can do nothing to restore the billions (trillions?) already stolen from US and they'll only add to the problem when they get disabled and start collecting benefits. At least until congress shuts the program down and allows all the stolen money to stay in the pockets of the folks they gave it to. Pessimistic? You bet! Look at the history of 'our' government over the last 50 years and try to find a reason to be optimistic!

Most immigrants are too busy trying to get a job tgo be worried about Social Security..... In Los Angeles, there are factory jobs and other employments that don't even offer 401K because they know the illegal immigrants aren't worried about the future but the present. Which is sad and a major reason why they can't even get ahead of the game and actually create the "American Dream" for them selves.

I know people who work in high levels with the Social Security Administration. There is no "Social Security Crisis."
That's a lie.

The truth is that the pending dilemma with Social Insecurity is that Members of Congress keep stealing (they call it borrowing) from the SS Trust Fund to pay for pork projects. It could legitimately be called borrowing if they paid the money back with interest for the time period of the borrowing. Failing that it's simple theft. Are your Members of Congress thieves?

Okay, so that's another issue entirely. Immigrants have about as much to do with saving Social Security as you do with running our government.

The real purpose behind the amnesty issue, with illegal immigrants, is to create a new constituency for liberals. They need the votes to keep winning and promoting higher taxes, more regulation and excessive government bureaucracy.

The bottom line is that liberals need illegals to become citizens so they can vote and tip the balance of elections in the liberal favor. Then they can have a whole new group of idiots who believe that the liberals really care about them while they continue to promote the special interests of the owners of the Federal Reserve.

What questions do you have?

No, I'm pretty certain those are completely separate issues. No amount of Immigration is going to keep Social Security afloat after the Baby Boomers turn 80- I don't think anybody in Washington even hopes for it.

I don't know how conscious the whole thing is, but employers are hurting when it comes to trying to fill entry-level positions in many fields - thus the H1B visa.

And, yes, I believe many politicians support illegal immigration, and increased legal immigration, in the hopes that the population increase it entails will defer the inevitable insolvency of Social Security for a few more decades.

historically younger immigrants have been encouraged to immigrate as they have greater life span and working time to contribute to taxes and thus to social security...at the same time are less likely to fall ill and become dependent on welfare-system............................................mike
