My hair won't grow into an afro because it's sortof straight. I can't get waves because of the lack of curls. The only way I can wear it is using a caucasian styling gel and putting it into place. Any advice would be appreciated on the process of doing this or from personal experience with people who have tried. I want to straighten my hair, but I don't want it to be all greasy and icky. I don't plan on using dye so that should help prevent damage. I'm desperate. My hair looks a mess because its growing straight, but it's still clumping together in that typical african american kinky fashion. Is there anyway I can get a style that looks like Matt Damon for example? Or is my only solution to shave my head like most black men?

anyone with any hair texture can get waves. just cop some indian hemp or africas best hair vitalizer and brush 60+minutes daily. No product will give you waves, u just gotta brush every chance u get. just go to http://360waves.net to get more info and product reviews.

given the fact that ive never seen your hair the only thing i can suggest is a hair lotion, its not as "set" as gel and not clumpy like grease, it washes out and doesnt damage
