Okay, I am guessing it has something to do with the bible because my fiance is very religious and he just sent me a text that read..."A soul mate is something who feels the same on a lot of emotional levels, someone who will do anything to make that person happy, someone who can feel what you are feeling and be there for you when you fall...Jessica (Last name), you are every piece of that soul mate definition and then some-You are my soul mate and soon you will be my help meet!!!" HELP WHAT IS THAT!?!?!?!

When God creates woman he says "it is not good for man to be alone, I will make for him a helper." A lot of early English translations such as the KJV translated the Hebrew word "azer" (which is now translated to helper) to be "helpmeet." It means basically the same thing, but it's now outdated in our language.

"Help meet" is the King James English of God's description of Eve recorded in Genesis 2:18. Another way to say it was that they were made for each other [or you two were made for each other].
"Meet" is Elizabethan English for fitting or right. It implies that men and women were created with differences that would complement each other. [Not to say that the genders are completely different or one superior to the other.]
Plato later wrote of his idea of a soul mate. Unlike Plato, the Bible does not say that there is only one out there who we fit or that we are incomplete without a mate.
What the Bible indicates (and the lovely quote from our beau) is that God made the genders to be a blessing for each other.

He wants to keep you as a stay at home wife who will be there when he needs you and you will do all the chores. Cook, clean and keep house. And if he is real hopeful he will want you to do this and work ourside of the home.
You might ask him that if he is so religious, does he expect to make all the decissions in the family. This is a good old Christian law.

A "help meet" is a old English word for a helper. It refers to someone who is designed to be able to meet any needs that you have in yor life. When you are weak, you can lean on their strength. When you are down, you can count on their support. When you are rewarded, you can anticipate that they will rejoice with you. When you are in need of love, they will always be there to offer it to you. And you, of course, are the same for her.
It comes from the story of Adam and Eve. When Adam saw that all the animals had mates, and there was no one for him, God caused a sleep to come on him. He then created a woman who was the perfect match for him. Whatever one needed, the other was designed to supply it. They were to "help meet" the needs of each other.

It is found in Genesis 2:18 in the Bible. It is a wife, or helper, or a helpmate, in Old English, it came out 'help meet', as that is how they talked in king James' day.
In the New Revised Version of King James, it is rendered as "A helper comparable to him".

I agree with what Rachel K said......It means that you are there to help meet the need. You are suppose to bring balance to his life.
