Eating plain yogurt helps to balance out the spices in curry and is also good for your tummy.

It's better to avoid really spicy food but mildly spiced should be ok. Also, take some antacid before and after.

Hope that helps. If you're really worried then you should ask your doctor.

Regards.

As you are probably already aware, most of the food you eat has some sort of affect on you when you have a hiatus hernia, and it is difficul to keep almost anything down. I dont think a curry would be the most sensible of things to eat in your condition, but i do feel for you if you really fancy one! Make sure you have some raita (yoghurt, cucumber and mint mixed together) to balance the acids in the curry and also, try having some gaviscon liquid ready for after, you'll probably need it!!

For me the best way to eat a curry is cold next morning. If I were you I would go for it but only have a tiny amount. You will get the wonderful taste on your tongue but not give yourself the galloping trots that could affect you.
I like a mugful of curry sauce to drink down with gusto, but I'm an old sailor with leather guts.

First of all I have the best curry recepie ever created. Second, you should be fine as a hernia has nothing to do with your stomach as its a tear in your grater omentum, the tissue covering the organs of the abdomen. Third, cold drink hardly help with the heat, spice is acidic, you need a base, try your curry with cream or milk as it will neutrolize the heat. enjoy.

If you are talking about a hiatal hernia, it shouldn't make any difference what you are eating, as long as you stay upright for a couple of hours after you eat. And if you aren't on medication, there are some good ones out there to prevent the reflux at night.

If you are talking about the horrible heartburn where you have to sit up all night and not get any sleep, I have been there, done that. Talk to your doctor. Mine prescribed Prevacid and I can eat any spicy food there is. I love Cajun food and Mexican food.
It may work for you, ask your doctor.
