waiter carrying a tray of something hot that hurts someone the restaurant is liable.Ive been at events like hockey games where kids run up to you and whack you with their foam fingers while your trying to watch the game. Should parents be held liable for controlling their kids???? Say the kid is hurt because of this, why should the place this happens be liable when they'ed be ok if the parents kept them under control???

I definitely agree i would never hold anybody, but my son and/or myself responsible if my child got hurt doing something dangerous. I believe my children are well behaved most of the time, but i also know that they aren't perfect and i try to keep them in line when out in public if they are misbehaving. i would never let my children run around at a restaurant and i would never let them hit, trip, dance on seats, run up and down aisles, etc. i too find that irritating and can't stand it when i have control over my children and they are behaving and the table next to us the children are acting like total brats and then my children don't understand why those children aren't getting in trouble, because they would if they did that, and then i have to explain that it is wrong but some parents are not good parents and let their children walk all over them and that is not the type of children or grown ups i want you to be or become.

Yes, parents should be held liable. One time, I was on the train and this kid kept running round through the train car, acting like a moron. The train made a sudden stop, and the child practically flew across the car. Everyone was laughing(the kid wasn't hurt), because the kid's mom didn't even TRY to tell her child to sit down or anything. People need to keep their kids under control.

Yes the parents should be responsible for their children. If the parents don't control them, the facility or business has the right and obligation to ask them to regain control or leave the property. People are afraid to discipline their children because other people think they are being abused. But a swift hand across the butt of an unruly child could stop a lot of the problems we are having with them today and prevent future problems by showing the child that that kind of behavior is not tolerated.

Because the parents were not asked to supervise their children by the restaurant before they got out of control.

Restaurants are well within their rights to ask families of unruly children (or a group of rowdy teens) to leave if they refuse to supervise their children.

I moonlight as a short order cook at a small rest. and have never had a problem telling a child how nice it would be if s/he sat in his/her chair quietly like the truly good little boy/girl s/he is. We keep a box of trinkets for rewards, too - tiny boxes of crayons and child safe toys (approved for ages 2+) work really well.

That way, when we have to tell someone to leave - we have a leg to stand on. We've asked you at least three times to control your child. His behavior is disturbing our other guests and so we must ask you to leave. Then we take their food, put it in to-go boxes and clear their table.

fortunately, this doesn't happen often.

Parents should be held liable for their children's actions. If the kid gets hurt too bad. Were it my restaurant I would have asked the family to leave and take their uncontrollable brat with them.

Parents should be and are responsible for the behavior of their children. So many kids are way out of control and are not disciplined.

Children are given way too many rights in todays world and almost no blame is being placed on parents where it should be.

I say parents need to control their little brats and if something like that were to happen to me... they better understand that I will expend all of my time/energy/money to ensure that if they sue me, the judgement is placed on them and their inability to be a parent.

Because parents cannot take the blame for anything, including their children's failure in school.
