I really want a dog but the dog that my parents want is not the dog for me, I dont care about the size of the dog (as long as it is not a giant breed), the breed should not drool, should not be a really heavy sheader, friendly with everyone and not just with its own family, and intelligent. Any one have any suggestions??? Thanks in advance : )

I'm not exactly a breed expert but many dogs can fit your description. Make sure you get a shorthaired dog if you don't want shedding. Usually the drooling part depends on the dog itself, not just the breed. Many dogs are intelligent, especially labs. As for the friendly part, any dog can be friendly! All you have to do is socialize it early with all kinds of people and other dogs, and it will learn to love everyone! Make sure you don't rule out mixed breeds, and check out your local animal shelter too. Some of the best dogs can be found there.

Well I am on a crusade to remedy the conception about the Pit Bull.
Take a close look at an American Pit Bull Terrier.
The one I have is the most loving, sweetest dog I have ever had. She loves everyone. And I mean everyone, I have been robbed twice, not very good for property protection.
Honey is not trained really very good, she jumps on people for attention. But not children she just wiggles around them. She becomes very docile around baby's, she will just sit by them and not leave their side. I guess that is why they are called "nanny dogs".
She is medium sized at 55 lbs. She is a short hair and sheds less then my other two, a Chi/Rat Terrier and a Beagle.
Don't buy into the media hype about Pit Bull attacks. In my opinion most people are not able to identify an APBT. Most people can't recognize an APBT.
Here is a little test to show my point. Can you find the APBT on the first try?

Best way to handle that is get them to take you to an animal shelter. There are lots of deserving dogs needing good homes. On the minus side they are mostly mixed breed mutts so you can't brag to your friends about having a 10 trillion dollar high dollar dog.
Put on the plus side mixed breed dogs are usually more hardy and decease resistant that pure breed dogs. They are also more intelligent as well. they also seem to be more friendly. And integrate themselves into becoming a member of the family a lot faster.

You can also start calling around to the VETs. in your area. A lot of people whose dog has had shall we say an accident will get their VET to help them find good homes for the puppies.

Just give that a try before you and your parents going out and buying a high dollar breed.
Some of the best dogs I ever had were mixed breed dogs that people threw out and they wandered up to our house half starved to death.

I have had 3 beagles, they are very smart dog, can be light on shedding and do not drool. Some people don't like them because they are "hyper and dig," But I have never had a problem with that. They have been the most well mannered dogs I have seen. I think people don't do research on what they are adopting or buying and buy one that's from a hunting family. Tyr this site:

Schnauzer - i have one and is the love of my life!! Well, pet wize. He's very smart, does not shed, does not drool (well all dogs drool a little when it's hot) and is very friendly. They can be a little loud barkers and get attached to their owner very quickly. My dog follows me around every where i go. I love the companionship but they tend to develop seperation anxiety if you're with them all the time.

Go to the AKC webiste and ck out the pics, traits, sizes & weights of all the different breeds to see which one or ones appeal to you.

Look up a reputable breeder or visit a rescue! local or online! Don't buy from petshops, most purchase from puppymills which keep dogs in deplorable conditions!

GOOD LUCK!!

There are thousands of dogs that meet your requirements at any local humane society, pound, rescue mission.

You don't need a show dog now so a pet quality dog or a mix is what you are looking for.
