I know there's no "chatting" allowed here (I've gotten a couple violations myself) but I'm wondering if there has ever been a time when the R&S people meet in a chat room and discuss these things real-time. I'm curious as to if that effects the quality and content of the discussions, as people would respond immediately and then be able to respond to responses instead of being limited to the question/answer format.

And this is a question, so please no more violations!

we have a secret society where some of us get together to discuss where to plant the next round of fossils, does that count?

You're right about the limits of the question/answer format. In order to have deep discussions about things like religion and spirituality, I would imagine real-time would be best. I used to go to religious chat rooms but now I stick more to the discussion board format, because believe it or not there's a whole lot less petty fighting here!

Well, there is always the Universal Life Church Forum...
They are non-denominational... and there used to be some really good discussions on there...

I will look up the address and post it in an edit when I find it

There are groups that get together from time to time. Many of the atheists do talk. I have been in on a few. It is usually a whole lot more social that way.

Yes. Monday Nights at 7:30 PM EST most of the R&S regulars meet in Pangel's Chatroom.

Man, that would be an interesting session. I can't concieve of a time I'd be called an idiot or a hypocrite more in such a short time.

I think it would be interesting. I know that Yahoo has Religion themed chatrooms, but Yahoo's chatrooms are generally overrun with bots and trolls.

If anyone ever arranges this, let me know!
