In Texas, the limit went up to 80mph on rural interstates and it is the only state of which lists an 80mph allowance.
This is restricted only in sections of I-10 and I-20 in rural West Texas, the speed limit for passenger cars and light trucks is 80 mph. For large trucks, it is 70 in the daytime; 65 at night.
Best wishes.

The highest posted speed limit in the continental US and Hawai'i is 75 (I'm not sure about Alaska). Many lonely interstates in the California, Arizona, and Nevada deserts have posted limits of 75, and Montana recently (in the last decade) instituted a statewide limit of 75 on its interstates for the first time in history - in the 1980's and most of the 1990's, many Montana interstates had no speed limits.

It's my understanding that in the state of Montana, you can drive at whatever speed is reasonable, during daylight hours, in certain sections of the state. Whether it is posted 80mph or not, I don't know. When I visited, one thing they did have were, crosses at any site that an individual died in a car wreck. It was quite eery to see 20-40 crosses, at one site alone, and they were all over the western side of the state! It really made you aware of your driving, every few miles it seemed, there would be more crosses, linking tragedies along the highway.
