You need a cordless on steroids of sorts.

Actually there is such a phone. Engenius makes these.

I installed one in a "spread out" low tech manufacturing facility for the forman who roams and it solved his need; I also put one in an assisted living facility where the caretaker at night needs to answer the phone while walking the halls. Conventional cordless did not do the job.

GHz is Gigahertz; 1000 KHz = 1 GHz; 1 KHz = 1 Killohertz = 1000 Hz. 1 Hz = 1 cycle / second. As the frequency goes up, the wavelength goes down and often the range goes down with wavelength.
