We have spent millions of dollars in Iraq to "help" that country. Why not help our neighbor and then Mexicans would not need to immigrate to the US. Then who will do the harvesting in the US?

That sounds all well and good but Mexico has a super rich class that controls the government and the country and they keep the people in total poverty by not paying them descent wages. It is a country of rich natural resources and could be the bread basket to the world in they didn't use their resources to grow pot. or other drugs and the drug lords rule.
the wall is stupid at best because the majority of Mexicans do not cross the border. Hundreds of fishing boats go out into the gulf every day and from texas to Mississippi it is open border and they can just walk in. Texas is a great farming state and using the cheap labor encourages them to come across their border.
As far as sending money into the country for schools and etc.
The government owns the land and sells it to Americans and then takes it back. Which now they have gotten wise to it and don't fall for their buy our land scemes.
Money send for medicine and drugs is confiscated by the goverment and then resold to Mexicans with money.
Money sent to help poor children is done the same way.
so it is virtually impossible to help Mexicans until they can get rid of their corrupt government.
Whole villages are shot to death by drug lord's for some small thing someone did wrong in the village as a lesson to others. childen are sold into prostitution just to survive.
The wealthy want cheap labor and virtual slaves out of the poor class and they have it just the way they want it.
Americans go down there and rent villas surrounded by high wire fences and they hire a team of servants to work for them paying them a dollar a day. the rich don't want to lose that source of cheap labor.

First of all, I think to say "harvesting" isn't very accurate. Mexicans and Latin American's do a lot more than that. American government is so busy trying to keep them "out" that they don't focus on why they are wanting to get "in" in the first place. Our education here in America is poor, I doubt they can do much there. We do need to up the education standards, and it would be nice to see some of the money go into Mexico's resources would be great, but we need to educate the people living here, that Mexico isn't our enemy, first.

I don't think spending money on schools in Mexico is the answer. I believe we should increase legal immigration. We need more workers to keep Social Security a float. Also, America has always benefited from immigration in the past even though people complained about it at the time. I think we need to control who we allow to immigrate though, and to do that we must control illegal immigration.

Not so simple... US does help them and there are already agreements in place. Us seems to only want to help people we can gain from.... Where's Oil Come From everyone? Whats Mexico have for the US? Not much in resources that we dont already get.
You personally can help. There's tons of programs... My cousins wend down there with 25 other people in their 20's They went to a poor community, they saved up money and down there could live like kings. They build and ran a school for years... They subbed out teachers with new friends that heard of their mission. They helped a small community and learned how to survive on their own. Its amazing.

I think we should stop interfering with other countries all together. We should stop helping, stop interfering and mind our own business and keep all of our money here. People around the world don't want our help. They complain that we are arrogant and bullies. Fine then, we should mind our own business and use our money to help our own poor. If Mexico's government cared more about its people then we wouldn't have the problems we have. Mexicans need to demand change and reform from their own government instead of expecting hand-outs from the very country they hate and talk crap about.

Education isn't going to increase wages in Mexico. Most are too poor to get a good education and probably don't even have a way to get there.

Until conditions improve in Mexico, things will remain as they are. The U.S. can't afford to educate, send food, get running water and electricity to all the residents of Mexico, and create jobs for them there. It's not our country! It's theirs.

As nice as that sounds, the country of Mexico is a very wealthy country, both in natural resources and in capital. One of the richest man in the world is a Mexican citizen, so it is not about the way it's about the will of the Mexican elite to care of it's own country men and women, instead of exporting their poverty to the USA.

The problem is the population of Mexico is growing too quickly for any amount of money to reap any benefit. No matter how many millions we send them, their big family mentality will outstrip any jobs or education we can provide. Amnesty will also guaranteed tens as many will come here when their economy collapses under the burden of too many people. If we try and save them, we will do no good, and destroy our own prosperity in the process.

Its not for us to worry about the education in Mexico. Look at the schools over here that are filled with Mexicans. They are rude, disrespectful and could give a crap about learning. Go the one of their public schools and you will see what I am talking about. Education is not at the top of their totem pole

Then we would have educated criminal illegal aliens whats your point. Illegals are illegals. Education or not education. The legal 1s would do the harvesting at a decent wage. Then the lower wages ,health ins, IDS & SS# fraud would stop.Or slow down. So close the borders No amnesty & enforce the laws we have.
