we are no longer under the law. The Law of Moses was written for the Jews and was only to last until the time of Christ. In the Law of Moses, the blood of animals was required to atone for the sins of the people. These sacrifices were temporary. Now, we have the perfect sacrifice. God's only begotten son, being without sin, offered Himself as a sacrifice to forgive sins from the time of His death until His return. When Jesus died on the cross, the temporary Law of Moses was fulfilled and is no longer necessary.
Galatians 3:19,16 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; .... to your Seed, who is Christ.
Hebrews 9:15-18 And for this reason He [Christ] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives. Therefore not even the first covenant was dedicated without blood.

They don't eat pork because G-d says not to eat it in the dietary laws. It was never fit to eat. In some places they use pigs to clean up land fields, anotherwards clean up their trash. They don't celebrate christmas because it is pagan. Not sure what holidays you are talking about, but some holidays like Easter bunnies and candy doesn't have anything to do with the Passover. It is considered as a pagan holiday as well. If they worship on the Sabbath (saturday), then you know they are doing what G-d would have them do. For six days he formed the world and everything in it; but, on the seventh day he rested. Consequently, the seventh day, Shabbat (Sabbath), is to be a perpetual reminder of G-d the creator and our need to find rest in him. (Exodus 31:16-17)

Some Christians might call Sunday the "Christian Sabbath"; however, this is technically incorrect. Sunday is never called the Sabbath in the Bible. In fact, the word "Sunday" never appears in the original text of the Scriptures. It is called "the first day of the week" (see Matthew 28:1 and 1 Corinthians 16:2)

You must be talking about the Jewish people, Messianic Jews, or even Christians who are also grafted in, who uphold and worship on the Sabbath, where you say "they don't leave their house from Friday dusk till Saturday dusk, it's the only time they read their bible or have anything to do with religion." A new day begins at sundown. I don't think that that day is the only time they do study. They study daily and pray daily as well. This day the Sabbath in particular is a set day that G-d has given to them to spend time with HIM and to 'rest'.

The Sabbath is mentioned throughout the NT. (Luke 4:16-21)
Jesus (Yeshua) made it a habbit to worship at the weekly Sabbath service. What else would he do? He was born a Jew and lived a life consistent with much of traditional Judaism of his day. Likewise, the first Jewish disciples continued in the traditional forms of synagogue worship. (See Acts 13:13 and 18:4 for examples.) This does not imply that Jesus (Yeshua) agreed with every detail of every rabbinic attitude of Sabbath observance. Indeed, he tried to correct imbalances in rabbinic perspective by reminding the people "Sabbath was made for mankind, not mankind for Sabbath" (Mark 2:27).

Sadly, too often the people forgot to make Sabbath a delight, relegating it to a list of rules instead. Jesus (Yeshua) challenged the people of his day to remain biblically balanced, to enter into the true rest of G-d's spirit. This same appeal goes forth in 'this generation'.

The Prophetic Fulfillment: The prophetic fulfillment of the Sabbath is summarized in the NT book of "Hebrews," or "Messianic Jews." It was written to the Messianic Jews of the first century: So there remains Sabbath-keeping for G-d's people. For the one who has entered G-d's rest has also rested from his own works, as G-d did from his" (Hebrews 4:9-10).

Messiah bids us to experience the truth of the Sabbath in our daily walk: "Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28).

People just don't pick and choose, they only DO what G-d wants them to do. If you hear, you will do.

Maybe this will help you see why your friend's Holy day is on Saturday the Sabbath 'rest'.

God created us. He inspired men to write the Bible to give us instructions. 2 Timothy 3:16,17 says that ALL scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, reproving, setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

Much of what you speak of (eating pork and the sabbath) are still being observed by some religions. But celebration of holidays is something that was started by people who do not believe in God. The Bible does not speak about celebrating holidays. But since we know that these days are not holy, we must avoid participating in things that do not please god.

People still live by the law in the Bible because the words are spoken by God himself.
Some people are okay with living with parts of the scripture because it is easier for them. They refuse to live by rules and regulations. It is their free will...........

Jesus Is the Son of God who was perfect and paid the penalty of death for those who accept the atonement.
We the people who believe in God followed his law and understood that it had meaning. Man could not live up top God's righteousness and it demonstrated man's need for God. God created man with free will so that man could by his own choice choose God but man does sin and create problems for himself. God was aware that man had a sin nature and would fall from God's glory but he had a plan of salvation. That plan was to come ot the world in the form of man Jesus Christ and overcome temptation and remain perfect and pay the penalty of death for those who accept the atonement. Those who accept the atonement are by faith made new. being a new creature means they are righteous and in agreement with God's law. We were under the law but now are by faith made new and in agreement with God's righteousness. The law showed man his need for God and demonstrated God's plan of salvation to us. Those who accept the atonement have by faith entered into God's Sabbath his rest his kingdom.those ho do not believe in the atonement and resurrection of Christ are still under the law and attempt to follow the law to serve God, No man can in himself please God we are all unrighteous and we need the atonement God provided. Some do ot understand the meaning of the law and the atonement or do not accept the power of God and the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
