The core of Catholicism is Jesus Christ in whom belief is imperative. Practice your faith without regard to what these people say and don't worry about it. I say this to you as a "born again" Christian who wishes my Church was as reverent as yours regarding Jesus.

first all the born again christians you met were not good ones . meet ones that are in a babtist church or somewhere that is not a jail because you obvisouly have not been meeting true born again christians. secondly Catholics dont read the same bible your Bible has added chapters, and u also have a pope that acts like he is better then everyone else wihich is incorrect because God said in the Bible that every human is equal. and an other thing that christians dont agree with and neither does the Bible is about getting batised when you are a baby, the reason that is incorrect is because when you are a baby you cant make up your mind that you want to live the rest of your life with Jesus Christ. and not to mention that worshiping any one besides the Lord is bad, that is in the ten commendments. NOBODY shoould tell anybody that they are going to hell because we are not the ones to do that ONLY God can do that. we shouldn't judge anyone either all that we can do is to TRY to bring others on the right path.

I'm so sorry that you've had to hear that so many times. I've grown up in Protestant life and I have seen plenty of Protestant Christians claim that Catholics are all lost, so I believe you when you say you've encountered this. Actually, I think that those of us Protestants who don't think that way are few and far between, sad to say.

Personally, I think this is something that stems from the Reformation. At the time, it's true, the Catholic church wasn't quite right (indulgences and all) and I believe that in many ways Protestants carry this idea in their head that the Catholic Church is still this way. Also, there are some rather interesting theological differences between the two and sometimes that's really hard for people to get around.

Personally, I believe that salvation is based on accepting God's grace through Jesus Christ and choosing to live our lives with Him. The rest is peripheral theology. On behalf of my Protestant brothers and sisters - I am very sorry for all of those remarks. Please take some peace that not all of us think that way.

I'm an evangelical (Southern Baptist) and I think it is sad that many don't think of Catholics as Christian. The type of church is not nearly as important as your relationship with Christ.
I don't agree with all the Catholic teachings, but when I hold my pastors sermons up to the Bible I don't always agree with him either.
Keep reading the Bible with an open heart and asking God to show you the truth on all matters and you'll do fine.
I'm sorry you have had the experience you have had. All people, not just Christians, act on matters without really knowing what they are talking about at times. When Christians do it they unfortunately give a black eye to the faith and reinforce the idea that Christians are uneducated and lack critical thinking skills.

Well I never said it. However you do have a preponderance of statues in your church and to some that smacks of idolatry.

I do agree with you though they really have no room to talk because besides a few practices peculiar to catholics they still follow all the same pagan beliefs they got from the catholic church, Sunday worship, Christmas, Easter, etc.

I married a catholic by the way. I know a lot of catholics who are very good people and some evangelicals that are too. I still think you are misguided but I'd never say you were going to hell. That's not for me to judge.

Born again Christians, or what we call Heretics, are themselves lost and cut off from the true Church according to your Catholicism, and Scripture.

You need to become acquainted with the following:

Apostolic Succession
The autrhority Christ granted to his Apostles (and only them!)
The history of the Protestant Reformation.(Martin Luther and Henry VIII.

Read & you will be amazed. As for the Born agains: they are truly a sad lot.

Wow... you're meeting the wrong Christians. Being a Catholic doesn't prevent you from being a Christian... but you still need to come to Christ as your only means of salvation, and the Catholic church (the roman church doctrine) does not teach that. I know Catholics who are also Christians but they have to go beyond simply what the church doctrine teaches. There are also some evangelical Catholic churches in the USA that teach salvation through Christ, but their position is not supported by official catholic doctrine. Just pursue Christ, the denomination thing is really secondary.

read the Bible: Acts 16:31b: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.

Do you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? Then you will be saved. (And yes, I know that it is not menial belief, but a conviction that changes you, but considering the context of the question, I doubt it matters.) Catholic or Protestant, I am not God, but I doubt He would be so picky.

If God sends us to hell for believing wrong doctrine, then we are all doomed because everyone is wrong on something. And I bet arrogance for believing you know everything will send you to hell a lot faster than "idol worship." People sinned when they worshipped idols. But all of hell was created for the sin of arrogance.

"thou shall not put other gods before me"...there is no reason to put saints and the pope before God. when Jesus died for you that changed. now you can go striaght to God. that is a sin that can get you to hell (if you font repent). that's the truth. if you read the bible..then you would know that. I'm not judging..that's just a simple quote. im neither a druggie, alcoholic and I've never been to jail.

Truth be told, they don't know where you're going, they only know what they believe & that's all any of us do..we believe.

They cannot say with 100% certainty that you are going to hell for your beliefs, b/c it could be that they're going to hell for theirs.
