depending how old your son is, you should feed your dog less food, and have your son feed it to him so your dog is hungry enough to come to him. the dog will begin to trust your son after a couple of weeks.

It takes time for a chihauhua to get used to another person outside their immediate vicinity. I have a long haired chihuahua. What I find that if I hold the dog, calm her down, and then allow her to sniff the child, she comes around. She may make aggressive moves after that, but if the child can keep from showing fright and present a hand face up that should calm the dog. Also, if you give treats to the dog after they do thier business outside, allow the child to present the treat. The dog will no longer see him as a threat.

In the end, the dog is still a dog. It is not a human being. As long as Billy is not causing any harm to the dog, don't worry about it. A dog can always be trained.

Your dog will get used to him I promise. I had a problem with my toy poodle and the little girl I babysit quite often. The little girl would come over and Molly (my dog) would dissapear for a while and then when I would call her she would come so I could see her but no closer than she needed to. After a while she would still be as far away as she could, but still be in eyesight, and then finally she would be willing to stay in the same room. I don't know why little kids scare little dogs, but I can promise you that your chihuahua will get used to the little boy!

I think the best thing to do is hold the dog in your hand with the boy in the room for awhile until he doesn't act so scared.. then slowly let the boy feed your dog by hand, and give him treats... eventually the fear will leave... don't be heart broken about it... he just needs to learn that it is okay for them to be together... you must train your dog to not have issues with him
Hope this Helps!

Until the time comes that your dog will accept the kid tell the kid that the dog is off limits. Maybe get the kid his own dog.
Don't allow the kid near the dog. The dog will get accustomed to the kid & come out. But still it is hands off for the kid.
Your little dog doesn't need to be unnecessarily disturbed, he could be a fear bitter & bit the kid.

I feel bad, I would tell "Billy" that the dog isnt a "PLAY" toy, and that the dog is very fraigale.

Animals are much more perceptive to people's character than people. Trust your dog.
