Wow, she sounds anorexic to me. I wouldn't date a chick that skinny. I have a sister, by the way, who is like 5'2" and weighs 100 lb and she's a toothpick too, so that's what I'm comparing to.

A safe exercise would be to walk or jog. If she is going to lift weights she should get a recommendation on how much she should lift because she doesn't want to injure herself and then she can't work out at all. I walk and jog on the treadmill about days a week, sometimes 4 times a week for 30-45 minutes. The only reason I do this is so I can eat ice cream and not gain weight. If your friend eats right and exercises she will lose weight. Just so she knows, 102 pounds is a healthy wight for a 13 year old girl. She definitely does not weigh too much, if any thing she probably weighs too less. Hope this helps!! (This is also not a miracle exercise. Like any thing it will take time to notice the effects, so don't get discouraged!)

Your friend is not fat and if she is overly concerned about being fat then there may be reason to consider an eating disorder. At 63" 102# her body mass index is 18 kg/m2 which is only 10th percentile for 13 year old girls. This means that she is rather thin. Another way of expressing this is that if she weighed 145# her body mass index would be at the 85th percentile for 13 year old girls and would be considered overweight. Thus your thin friend would have to gain 40# to be considered overweight. The best exercise is doing something that you enjoy - so that you will keep it up over time. Simply walking 20 to 30 minutes daily is excellent cardiovascular exercise.

Height to Weight Ratio Chart Index for Females=
5'0"= 103-120#
5'1= 105-122#
5'2"= 108-125#
5'3"= 111-128#
5'4"= 114-133#
So I would say that your friend is doing fine. She has nothing to worry about at this time.

You can be overweight or PROB OUT OF SHAPE. There's a big difference in that. She's tiny so I assume just our of shape... Go walking together around the neighbord, take a mom. Power walk for at least 15-20 min a day and you'll get back into shape.... Join Soccer.... I had great legs! There's soooo many things you can join when you're younger... There are even city based sports.

Actually she is underweight she does not need to lose weight at all. Her body mass index is 18.2 and according to the national heath institute that is underweight, she should probably eat more to gain weight but she may just have a fast metablolism
BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

shes not overweight. but some good exercises would be to do anything that is fun, but takes a lot of work. such as playing sports: see who can get the most points in a certain amount of time, or you can ride bikes to a certain spot and back: if its summer try riding bikes to a park, or a community pool, that way you can cool off before heading back. also try running, swimming, hiking, find stuff you enjoy doing and take it to the next level. remember to have fun and be safe. :]

I'm sure your a gorgeous girl, and probably are on your way to developing a life threatening eating disorder, please get some help. Tell a friend about your concerns, a teach, parents, anyone you trust! Your going to seriously harm yourself, and your no where near fat. If anything your too skinny...but how tall are you...or your friend?

your friend has bad body image if she thinks 102 lbs is fat. that said, she's at a good age to start working out anyway. you can get cheap dumbells at walmart and start some light weight training (pick up a few women's workout magazines for ideas on exercises). riding a bike, light jogging, and swimming are good cardio exercises to get your heart rate up and burn fat.
