Memory and concentration problems are perhaps one of the most common problems in normal life as well as multiple physical and psychological disorders. Nobody can give you any reasonable suggestions without knowing what the cause of it is.

Possible causes are:

Normal (functional)
Alzheimer's disease
anxiety and stress
Brain cancer
age-related
depression
bipolar disorder
anxiety disorders
epilepsy
dissociative disorders
head trauma/concussions
etc, etc, etc.

Obviously some of these are very serious, some are not. Only with a thorough medical history and physical examination by your doctor can you narrow down the possibilities and get some reasonable advice.

As always, discuss these and any questions with your doctor.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of causes for memory loss. And all have to be evaluated by a professional as to the cause. There is a certain amount of memory loss with advancing age, but that is short term memory and can be compensated with. Other common causes are medications, even stress.

As far as improving memory, there are several things that can help depending on the problem, but I personally recommend pharmaceutical grade Omega-3 Fatty Acid. Omega-3 helps to build brain tissue and it has helped me a great deal with my memory. But I'm also one the computer often and use my mind to learn things. The best thing that I suggest is to see a doctor to determine the cause of the memory loss and then come up with a plan for treatment.

Hey there,
A very good, eye-opening site about this problem is: http://memoryloss.toptips.org
Memory loss may be due to many conditions such as small strokes in the brain, diabetes, high blood pressure, nutritional deficiencies, reactions to medications and alcoholism. The symtoms of more severe forms of Dementia / Alzheimer are mainly: poor judgement, poor decision making, masplacing things, difficulty having a conversation, losing track of dates, etc. If you notice any of these signs visit your doctor.

Sounds like he's hiding a drug habit...

Large amounts of meth cause almost all the symptoms you described above...(sounds of me clearing my throat, ummm...I think I read that somewhere...)
Some guys are so good at that, that you would never know until someone like me finks on him (sorry, dude...whoever you are)...
Or, he made just be Special-Ed...
Or, he's got initial stages of senility, dementia, or Alzheimer's Disease...

Given the choices...meth might be the best case scenario... Good luck...use a lot refrigerator stick-em notes, and bonk him on the head every now and then...together...we'll get through this...You and I...(oh...and him, too...)

He really should go see a doctor. While it may be infrequent and innocuous at this point, these may be the signs of a more serious problem that could easily be detected by a medical professional.

you don;t mention how old your partner is but naturally you are concerned. You are right to be concerned. I would accompany him to see his GP. He needs a psychiatric assessment and maybe a CT scan.
Alzheimer's, Dementia and depression can be the cause as can other illnesses.

Go see your family doctor. Don't play around when it comes to the health of someone you love.
