How do you handle unpleasant coworkers?

I have two coworkers who are extremely unpleasant and feel the need to talk down to me. Forget about going to management as it will fall on deaf ears.

I would confront them every time they talked down to me. I would simply state that I am not a child you can talk to me as a colleague. Also, I would document there behavior and the attitude and actions of management. If this continues file a complaint with the labor board or go above management and argue a hostile work environment. I bet action will be taken then.

Pull her aside whenever you get a chance and tell her exactly what you wrote here. You could say something in a nice way like, "Hey, female coworker, listen, lately I've been noticing I haven't been able to get much work done because we're always chatting! We should grab lunch and chat then or after work." If you feel uncomfortable talking to her, take it up with your boss. Just kindly explain that you're having a difficult time concentrating, you don't want to get your female coworker fired or in trouble, but ask your boss for suggestions on how to get her away from your desk.

Don't react to them, that's what they want. If you just treat then nicely, or even kill them with kindness, they'll eventually tire of the game and stop being such a pain. The best thing you can do is to do your job well; if you're performing at or above expectations, they'll soon have nothing to say.
