I think the message in a bottle invites are so cute for beach weddings.

They sell cokes in the glass bottles at the grocery store. Go buy 25 and get to drinking! Wash them out, toss in a little sand and small decorative shells. Get some natural looking paper from the craft store. print off your invite design and use a lighter to burn the edges a little. Roll them up, stick them in the bottle and mail them.

Another option would be to use the same paper technique as above except instead of bottles slip them inside conch shells.

I had the same dilemma! So, I made my own. I went to hobby lobby and I got card stock paper in colors of sand and blue (ocean blue or turquoise). Then I cut them into two different sized because I wanted to stack them to make a border look. My invites fit into the size of the envelope that I wanted which was a business #10 only cost 41 cents to mail as opposed to regular invitations. I had the bottom card turquoise (the back) and the front card was sand color with my invitations printed in turquoise on that card. Then I embellished them with vellum stickers which are very flat. I used sand castle stickers that I found at hobby lobby but they had other sea shell type stickers.

It's very inexpensive to do just takes some time but ends up looking very unique!

While I love the message in a bottle invites too, they are more expensive to mail and buy than it is to make paper invites yourself. But if you love that idea the cheapest invited of message in a bottle around is www.orientaltrading.com.

Make your own. Get some construction paper and maybe some small seashells and sand to glue around the verbal information. I think this would be a nice touch; it would take some of your time, but people really appreciate getting something you took the time to specially make much more than something you bought them, even if it was expensive.

There are hundreds of ways to save money on a wedding but the wedding planners and everybody else seems to think you have to spend $25,000 as a starting point. To this I say "Rubbish!" After all, the point is ultimately the MARRIAGE rather than the WEDDING, isn't it?

do a message in a bottle. Get some tan colored paper or colored paper the color of your wedding. roll it up and use either those silver or gold rings to hold it in place or tie a ribbon around it. Place inside the bottle along with sand and small shells. Place cork in top.

Here is where I got my wedding invitations for really cheap.. I am doing a beach theme.

They are very reasonable. i got 100 for $9.00 we are using the left over paper to make programs.

Oriental Trading has some beach options...I don't see any seashell invitations, but you certainly could add seashell confetti to the invitation.

Most of these are $10 - $15 for a pack of 12 or 20.

Go to a scrap booking store like Archivers. The women who work there also know a lot about card making and are very knowledgeable. Explain to them what you are looking for and they can help you put something together with stamps, ribbons, pretty paper, grommets, etc. in a very artful way. I'm usually not a fan of "crafty" things, but these women do beautiful work. Check it out!
