The best thing I have found (after trying seriously EVERYTHING) is Fish Oil caplets. They won't hurt your body or diet - they'll actually help you.
You can buy them at the drug store. Take 2-3 a day with meals (1 with every meal - you can take up to 6 a day) and you will notice results the next day. It's a good healthy natural remedy to help you start "moving" again. If that's not enough, add the metamucil as well. This is an unbeatable combination - it's worked for me after YEARS of trial and error.
Good Luck!

Whoa, ppl...Use laxatives as a last resort.... The diet could have temporarily made you constipated.. First make sure you are hydrated.. Drink 8-10 oz. of water.. If that doesn't work get a box of prunes and eat a few... Be patient... Let nature take it's course before you decide to take a stool softner... If the natural stuff doesn't work than by all means take a laxitive.. If you feel bloated or are in pain....

Lack of Bowel Movement, does have connections to the
hormone levels of the body, and the aging process, and to
Genetics of the Family Connections.
For my Lack of Bowel Movements, I use Mineral Oil. It does
not leave the body lacking for nutrients, and I find that this
Oil, keeps the lining of the Bowels, oiled, against abrasions
etc. of harsh foods, being digested.
I take this instead of Lasix. It works well for Fluid Retention.
Improper Function of the Brain, may cause a lot of the
problems, of the whole operation of the body functions.
(This is from my own personal health experiences, and not
because I am a professional medical TeamPlayer.)

If you need relief then use a suppository. Since you digestive system is sluggish now use metamucil 2-3 times daily but be sure you mix it with the full 8 ounces of water. For now use a suppository for relief.

I'm not familiar with that diet, but I get the impression that it's low-carb?
Don't worry, it's normal to slow down on a low-carb diet. Are you eating your veggies? (very important). Some people supplement with ground flax meal, others (like me) think that "regularity" is highly overrated and don't worry about it.
Here is an interesting discussion on fibre, regularity and bowel cleansing: http://forums.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=309156&highlight=fibre+eades

Try stool softener and some cranberry juice. I'm not sure what that diet is about but eat some acidic fruits too if you can. Oranges, pineapple, etc...

Drink a lot of water. Keeping your body hydrated is a good way to naturally "soften" things. Make sure you are eating enough fiber as well, but it's most important to get enough water in your system.

I'm not familiar with that diet, but I see no reason for you not to take a stool softener. You need to get that krap (pun intended) out of there!

Take a fiber suppliment. You always want to take some type of vitamins when on a diet.
