My boyfriend was pulled over for a ticket and the police find alcohol in his trunk. He is 19 years old. The police told him that he would need to appear in court. How many days after the pull over or the arrest will the letter from the court come. Please, help!!

He was a minor with the alcohol. He was brought to the police station and his car was towed. His license was from another state and was not changed into the current state's. He was not wearing a seatbelt. That's the reason the cops pulled him over. He just wants to know if the letter would be coming any time soon to his house. Like how many days after the arrest. Thanks.

i'm confused.

was he arrested or cited when he got pulled over - if he was then there should be either specific info on the ticket or contact info on the ticket.

if not, then i suppose you could call them and make sure they have current contact info for him - if they can demonstrate that they tried to contact him and he doesn't respond they can issue a warrant for his arrest.

but i'm still confused - as it's perfectly legal to transport sealed alcohol from one place to another.

if they were in his trunk and he was not under the influence and he only got a seat belt ticket. right? why would they search his trunk with out probable cause? i am so confused
cause if he was sober and the containers were closed that's not a crime.
