People, who are sinners, can be demon possessed, because they aren't sealed with the Holy Spirit.

But actually the spiritual blindness/death protects the souls of unbelievers to a measure. Because they can't see the demons. Unless they meditate or practice too much on demonic things like pornography, accult material, drugs, drunkedness. Even practicing hypnosis is dangerous, in that person mental protection is vulnerable to ungodly spirits.

wefmeister,
Read 1Jn5:18. If one is born of God (sealed of the Holy Spirit) ...the wicked one touches him not. That means that when one is born of God the devils & demons cannot possess or cling to a person born of Gods Spirit.

When Jesus cast out a demon from someone, He said that the demon goes around looking for someone else, but if can't find anyone, goes looking at its old home. And if that person is swept clean (still not Holy Spirit seal), the demon will go out find 7 demons worst than itself & possess that person. The state of that person is worse later than was before. Because, the Holy Spirit is with those who follow Jesus. Those who don't follow Jesus are vulnerable to demonic attacks, especially if they had been in accultic practices before.

I believe that ANYONE can become demon possessed, but the ones who are closest to God are the more likely targets, not the sinners. What possible reason could he have for that? he already has them.

All of us are sinners. If we let the selfish desires control our behavior, any of us can become demon possessed. Our responsibility is to act in a way that allows God to direct our steps. Jeremiah 10:23 says that it doesn't belong to man to direct his own step. We should take the same disposition as the psalmist who wrote at Psalms 119:37 "Make my eyes pass on from seeing what is worthless."

I do not have a clue of how far God allow Satan to go, but I think that Satan hands are not totally bond. In Matthew 12: 29 it's say" Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house". I thank God 2000 years ago that the Lord Jesus took every demon in hell and put him in his place, And that there is one stronger than the one that is standing at the door. Jesus can take every demonic person and totally set them free. Amen.

Catholics have been casting out demons ever since Jesus and the Apostles did it.

Modern psychology says that most of the people who had demons cast out of them were probably miraculously cured from schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. But their cures were still miracles.

The Catholic Church believes that real demonic possessions are rare but possible, so they keep a few exorcists around just in case.

With love in Christ.

Every one sins at one time or another. It's certainly not a hard thing to do. I do think that when we leave an opening in our soul, a demon can make a home there. Of course it's possible. Nothing attached to spirituality is out of our range of total understanding.

Demon possessed and spiritual possession are to way different things. Spirits entwine themselves into the soul such as the Holy spirit. Satan's spirit entwines itself into the soul of those who dabble into occult games and practices placing that person into bondage to witchcraft and demonic forces. Demon possession is Fallen angelic possession and way more sever. Although in the beginning of man a spirit might have entered man causing the fall of man.

Im possesed with a 1800th century charming lad who likes to be a bit of a bussle now and then. He rode horses and and faired with the best. In modern times I ride a Harley and preach to the choir, while slipping the finest vodka in the sacrament water. It was a joyful sermon last sunday due to the joy I pronounced. I even saw a choir boy making out with a user girl in the back. Of course I stopped at the confessional on the way out but I am not sure god heard my plea cuz apparently the confessional worker enjoyed the sacrament a bit to much. Well off for another week, thanks I need to hide myself before the owner of this body wakes from his share of the vodka, demon here, signing off...

The scriptures state that possession by demons is possible; but does not specify sinners nor righteous. In my studies I have encountered anecdotal evidence for the possession of nuns and clergy as well as lay people -- but I personally view us all as "sinners".
