omg sorry but a whole pile of bumba***s answered my question. I am talking about people who are physically unable to speak, not merely stupid people. Dumb is a technical term for this, synonymous with 'mute'

Actually because of the negative connotation associated with the word dumb, it is more preferential to use the term mute. The reason for this is because the term mute is not confused with a derogatory term. For example Helen Keller was very intelligent for a dumb person. Or Helen Keller was a very intelligent mute.

Call it like you see it and let the person who is offended deal with it. Political Correctness is just another form of censorship. Don't fall for it.

Yes it is OK to call some one dumb, you just have to be able to deal with that person's reaction once you call them dumb.

It could be correct, but usually people just say it as an alternative to saying stupid.

It is considered politically and socially incorrect to call someone ANY name...be it dumb, stupid, a@$hole, or idiot...
Try not to call someone names....it just makes YOU look like the "dumb/idiot/a@#hole" ......
My Mother always said" if you can't say something nice to, or about, someone, don't say ANYTHING at all"...
