It does mean something but its up to you to determine what it means we can only give you our opinion. But i suggest you ask him beforehand why he feels the need to get intoxicated to have sex with you it could mean so many different things but dont jump to conclusions ask him and listen to he's response then believe him he might be lying or might not be dont worry about that atleast he gave you awnser honest or not hes trying to tell you why he does it. So respect it until you have a reason to think otherwise.

It could mean he's gay. He may have to drink to get through it. Sounds rather strange or he could have performance anxiety and it helps to drink. You know liquid courage...
