with proving other people wrong??
folks, i don't care who you are, christian, muslim, atheist, agnostic, whatever...
yahoo answers religion and spirituality is NOT a competition. you aren't "winning" anything by bashing other people's beliefs. you are just making yourself look like a fool. quit taking things so seriously and realize that there are people out there who (brace yourself)....MIGHT believe something different than you!
it doesn't make them less of a person, so why treat them like it?
seriously. it's not a competition.

In some sense, it IS a competition -- and rightfully so. The theists, out of a spirit of generosity, want to bring the atheists into the fold, while the atheists, recognizing that religion is bad thinking as well as a total waste of time and effort, want to talk the theists out of religion.

Boy, are you ever naive. What is at stake here is nothing less than helping the human species understand the difference between that which is utterly imaginary and that which is factually true. Endlessly whining about not offending the sensitivities of a non-existent deity, and shaping government policies to that end, depletes the resources of human civilization, leads to a succession of futile wars of conquest, and causes people to squabble endlessly over theological minutia. If the human species is ever to achieve its potential, we must learn to abandon the ignorant mistakes of our ancestors and create a forward-looking civilization, dedicated to providing for the tangible needs of all its citizens, while simultaneously protecting our environmental resources for future generations. Those who worship the God of Abraham are apparently incapable of understanding that their Solipsistic worldview is utterly invalid and that genuine reality exists only in the physical realm. It is time for humanity to finally abandon the erroneous unsubstantiated philosophies of Plato and Aristotle, discard the outrageous Solipsistic fantasies of superstitious religion, and finally accept that rigorous science does a far better job of describing the true nature of reality. Religion and superstition have repeatedly betrayed the human species for the sake of imaginary gods, while rigorous science remains the only path toward a brighter future for the entire human species. What could be more important than the future?

Good point. Now get ready and brace yourself for this. You don't have to participate in this message board. You are free to go to another category and talk about what ever you like.

Very good point. Unfortunately, it will attract bashing all the way around. The one thing they all agree on is that they love to bash one another.

Christians are not in a competition. We are in the Lord's army. The letter written to the saints in Ephesus while Paul was under house arrest for his faith, encourages believers to think of themselves in a whole new way----as those who are "in Christ." Paul describes the big picture of God's plan for redeeming the world through Christ and gives practical advice on how to live the Christian life. In this letter, Paul tells us of our purpose and a plan for living.
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stnd your ground, and after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm, then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18.

People use internet message boards as a way to vent over their pathetic, meaningless lives.
I steer clear from any political or religious debate (honestly, you'll never catch me replying to any of those ridiculous questions regarding my opinion.)
People who regard their opinion as fact are fukt up in the head.

You need to pick sides. When it comes to the soul and the spiritual, either you are a follower of the Lamb, or a follower of Satan.
