how can i help someone in a violent relationship that lives 5000 miles away?

she live in ohio and im in alaska. she is my father in-law's girlfriend. her 12 year old daughter is seeing this. my father in-law punches her, kicks her, and recently threw a charcoal grill at her and busted her jaw. he also lets other people, including his youngest son of 13, slap her around and call her names. this is eating me alive because i dont know what i could do other than listen to her talk about it. any advice would be appreciated.

tell her to leave him ASAP if she does not have anywhere to go there are plenty of women shelters that will take her in help her get back her life & find work

You can anonymously call the police department or email them. All police departments have websites now. Let them know what is going on in the home. Contact the local DFS and state that you feel the mother and daughter are in danger. You can contact the local abuse shelter and get all the details for her so when she is ready to go she will know exactly what to do. I would make sure to contact her via phone or email daily so.........she can trust someone. This helps with an abused person so they have a person to call when they are ready to leave.

Tell her to leave him. This is not a healthy environment for her to be in; however, until she decides that she is truly tired of the situation nothing that you say will make any difference. However, if she does want to leave him, maybe you could ask her how you can help.
