I am curious because I see from my other questions and answers over time, that it seems a bunch of you out there are interested in learning. Do you do any research? Ask others? How would you like to learn? Perhaps through a Yahoo Group? Any ideas? How could we learn for the sake of learning, without judgement?

Voodoo is NOT hoodoo. Voodoo is a religion, based on African dieties. Hoodoo is a form of folk magick, incorporating the use of herbs, candles, and oils to bring about luck, love, etc.

Since when is learning about something new considered anti-Christian, or occult behavior? Learning leads to enlightenment.

i have been to a couple of voodoo rituals, they were very interesting. the energy raised was certainly different than other pagan rituals i have been to, but not to say it was negative, more intense i guess.
i love learning about all religions and cultures - that's what being open minded is all about. also, i feel knowledge is the best gift we have in this world

To answer your last question (Since when is learning about something new considered anti-Christian, or occult behavior? )...it's easier to fear something than take the time to learn it. I don't understand why some people won't learn and research other beliefs without thinking they're going to get sucked into it and believing it's ungodly to even try.
Learning = growth

Not my folkway, not of my folk . . . while I'm aware of the basic structure of the beliefs, as with Amerind spirituality, I simply feel that it is the property of a *different* people group than the one my own ancestry springs from.
IOW, not for "white folks." Which is what a REAL practitioner would tell me, too.
Honestly, way too many people in the New Age/alternative spirituality community treat the entire world and its indigenous religions as one great big ol' spiritual smorgasbord laid out for their personal consumption. Every folkway is a *worldview* and a the soul of *people* . . . and there is a tremendous growth that comes from disciplining yourself to work within just ONE and explore it completely.

It's interesting to me but it's just not my path. I know several people who follow it so if I wanted to know about it I'd start with them.
As you can see from some of the answers there are some closed minded people who have to be negative about it.

I'm so glad that you look at life that way. You will be much more enlightened than those who close themselves off to new experiences.

if you don´t know about it, its better to stay way from it. You are better off not knowing what you are missing. I have dabbled in it just long enough to be running away as fast as i could, its not some thing to be playing around with.

No point. It's the same superstition as religion, praying, 'the secret', alternative medicine - it's the confirmation effect. It only works if you convince yourself it has. Which is to say, not at all.
