Hi All,

I applied for my passport last Thu on the 21st and paid for expedited shipping. Today I checked my status and it said I applied for routine service and should be receiving it within 10-12 weeks. Is this just the normal answer that they give everyone who checks their status online or do I need to call them?My trip is Sep 29th and I really dont want to panic. Please help!

That is not a normal answer, go back to where you applied and ask them first. They have access to methods to correct the problem that you don't. If you paid for expedited service, then you should get it even if they have changed rules afterward. However there is no notice on the Passport website that expedited service is no longer available. This seems more like a screw up by the person processing the application. You should get this fixed as normal delivery might not get to you in time. If they can't take care of it at the post office, then call the main number.

It is going to be a close call...it is very often taking more than 12 weeks to get a passport. if they are not accepting expedited applications, Makes me wonder why the guy at the passport office did not tell you that and decline the extra fee. I would call and stick to it. If you are travellong to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribean, you can take advantage of the current "flexibility" program to fly without a passport if need be. See the website below and read about the "flexibility' program. Hope it works out well for you.

time delays have become so bad that the passport office is no longer accepting expedited service requests. you are in tilted to a refund of the expedite fee.

You really ought to notify them. Oh, by the way, if you're seeking cruise information, send me an email. I noticed your last question, but it was resolved, and you don't allow email. I have traveled on many different cruiselines to several destinations.
